So I was to bring some pot luck items to a gathering this weekend that I never made it to. One of the items is pineapple chunks soaking in vodka. I cubed a perfectly ripe pineapple, tossed it in a food saver bag, poured vodka over it and it's sealed. There is still some liquid vodka floating around the pineapple chunks and since I won't be getting to it probably until at least next weekend, do you think it will keep for a week or two in my freezer, even though vodka itself doesn't freeze? Enlighten me F&DB Gurus.

I don't know how it will look or taste, but it will be safe. My guess is that it would hold up decently in the freezer.

Go for it. At worst, you'll have some dynamite ingredients for a hard fruit smoothie.

seems like the alcohol would turn it to mush. IDK for sure though

This. Vodka is actually acidic and is used for this reason to tenderize meat. I'd imagine that it'll make sort work of pineapple.

I think what I'm going to do is snip off one corner of the pouch, pour off the liquid for a delicious drink, then vacuum seal the corner of the bag with the soaked pineapple only, which should freeze. I may bump this thread in a week or two for those who are interested in the result.

2 weeks later...

The vodka from the bag was absolutely delicious, and the pineapple was slightly bitter yet edible and was consumed by the end of the Saints loss. I'm definitely making this again only with more vodka so that there are more infused shots to be had. That was the best part.

ETA: It never did hit my freezer and was in the fridge for the entire two weeks.

I'm not a vodka fan, but that pineapple soaked in rum and the run in a drink sounds delish.

Oh ya!

I think I might soak some apples in Fireball.

P.S. I understand the cool people outgrow Fireball by the time they are out of high school or college.

Get a nice big clear jar and fill it with peeled garlic cloves, black and green olives and small peeled or sliced onions and baby corn. Fill with vodka and seal. Put it on a shelf and look at how pretty it looks for about a month or two. Then pour off a glass and have a great glass of dirty vodka. When you wake up, refill the jar.

New Orleans Daiquiri has them. Wife sent me early one afternoon to get a daiquiri. I bought ten for a dollar for the ride home. Got home and I was hammered. In about 7 minutes. Sweet Jesus I had two hangovers in one day.
