Eboli Containment Logistics question

At what point do the higher ups realize Eboli will not be contained? They went from looking at 12 people to 100 people in 24 hours just in Dallas with a new possible case in Hawaii.
What's the threshold for essentially refocusing efforts from containment to mitigation of damages?

I'm not an epidemiologist but the first thing I'd do is quarantine people that come from the infected areas or just not let them in at all until they get a handle on this shite.

I get the sense there is a full court press to downplay the severity of this.
And their statements are just outlandish.
Yeah just wash your hands folks and you'll be ok....yet every picture I see of people handling ebola victims are folks in hazmat suits.

THAT is my feeling. I think it's horse crap. It's an appetizer to get our fear factor increased to get the people behind whatever the next steps must be. I'm not saying it's not here... I'm saying it's been around since the 70's. How odd is it that we start talking about Ebola for a few months and then boom, suddenly it's here. Idk. Maybe those reports about ebola several months back were to warm us up about the IDEA that it could be here.

that is because they are in direct contact (less than 3 feet) from an infectious person. the general population no. It is spread by fluids not air.

not really there have been 5 cases of ebola type virus in the us since 2000, none have died or spread.

Ebola was always scary because it kills so fast, but that was always its downfall. It would kill people too quickly to spread very far, killing a lot of people in a small area, but burning itself out before it could spread.
This new strain has a lower mortality rate and kills people slower, which may seem like a good thing at first, but actually means that it has the potential to be spread to far more people.
It is also speculated that this strain may actually be airborne, unlike previous strains.

I think they confirmed that it isn't airborne. This can get out of hand real quick with air travel these days. This is many steps down the road, but at what point do we stop all air travel?

the guy in texas was in africa a couple of weeks ago and had direct contact with an ebola patient. nothing to do with the docs
The person in hawaii, we don't know shite about. If it is ebola or if her or she has been to africa.

CDC administrators and their Washington DC directors should be eviscerated for their stupidity.
Let me put another thought out there.
This was no accident.
It was as predictable as darkness following sunset. Whatever the motivation, the CDC knew it was putting our citizens at risk. No quarantine of potential carriers meant Ebola was coming to the US. It was just a matter of time. I cannot believe Tom Frieden, even if he is an incompetent buffoon of first order, would proceed as he has without directives and/or encouragement to do so. In following that directive, he violated his hippocratic oath.

This is well beyond any matter of being "asleep at the wheel." It was as deliberate as Dr. Kermit Gosnell "snipping babies".

there hasn't been a known virus yet to undergo such a drastic mutation that it changes its mode of infection. HIV is one of the most mutagenic viruses out there (one of the reasons why it is so hard to vaccinate or cure) and it hasn't become airborne.
