What are jobs people tend to look for with an MBA or what type of jobs prefer it?
I have a BS in Finance, and have a little over two years experience working for a financial management company. I really have no idea what I want to do with it yet, but I'll have my MBA in December.

I feel like you should really know this

I feel like you are right but I'm really unsure. I kind of got it knowing that it would help me down the line but completely unsure of what I would do when I got it.

This is what drives me crazy about MBAs. Why did you get one?
Anything with high finance or large organization management would be good with an MBA.
Example, one friend with a human resources background got an MBA, and another friend with a marketing background got an MBA. Both got them while still working. Both did not change jobs after getting their MBA. Both plan on going into management (management of HR dept, management of marketing dept) and thought it would be good.

MBA's have a shelf life. "A few years down the road" no one will care all that much that you have an MBA. It holds its most value within the first year. You need to start looking for a career pronto.
What school is it from?

It's the same story with damn near every non-target MBA asking these questions right before graduation Why is it so lights on nobody home when it comes to maximizing career progression and ROI?

Not sure, but I kinda fell into a promotion a month after I graduated with my masters degree. ROI is looking pretty good here

It doesn't really help you get into a specific field, but helps you when applying for management/senior positions.

I thought a big part of the MBA process was to get contacts.

Someone should know why they are getting a MBA before actually attending the program. These sort of threads are some of the most disappointing we see on this board.

I didn't have a plan for mine but it worked out okay eventually. Sales / Account management when I started the process.

MBA's can take some time to start paying off. They're not the "instant in" like you see in (obviously) law and medicine.
I finished my MBA 6 years ago and it FINALLY started to pay off about 18 months ago. Before that it was useless. But out of the 40 years of my career that I'll have had it, it will have benefited me for over 35 of them. Not too shabby.
My point is that if you would have asked me 2 years ago if my MBA was worth it, I'd have said "hell no". Now it's one of the best decisions I've ever made.
