There are no "must eat" places in Alexandria. Listen to OG and keep driving.

The original meat pies and the best anywhere. Well worth it.
If you're coming back through there when it's open, I highly recommend stopping in again to busy some frozen pies to take home. I try to get there to buy those often. Have some in my freezer now. Bought a big supply in December.

The burger with salsa and advocado at the Pioneer Pub in Natchidotches is one of the best I have ever had. I cant remember what its called. Great road stop food. The fries are incredible too.

Go to bed, Methuselah, it's way past your bedtime. Even Piccadilly is about to close.

A ham sandwich and a piece of pie at Lea's is a great meal, to me. I like to take the drive through Bunkie etc... when I'm going to stop there. Change of pace from I-49.

The cottage in Alexandria. Order the marinated chicken breast plate.

Second those who said meat pies at laysones. Historic scenic downtown. Don't stop in cenla...spirits is a nice place and the cottage has decent food but overall it's not worth the detour off the interstate.

Honestly, there are no "must eat" places in either town. Spirits is nice. I like Lazyones, but The Pioneer Pub has a better beer selection. They're both about 6 miles off the interstate though, and Grayson's is across the Red River in Clarence. Huge detour, if headed to Dallas. You might wait and hit Franks or Superior in Shreveport.
