I am heading down tomorrow and staying for two nights. I had stayed at the Renaissance last time I was down there. It was during Mardi Gras so not sure if that is a normally good place to stay or not.

I am going to be at Mobile Infirmary Wednesday and Thursday and so I was wondering, would you stay in downtown Mobile or should I look for a place down by the beach? I know it would be a 30+ minute drive, but that is fine if it would be better for being able to walk to good places to eat and get a drink.

Any good suggestions?

We used to use the Admiral Semmes(sp), not fancy and close in. No clue as to what to do, we brought our own party.

I love the Renaissance Battle House. Great rooftop pool. Lots of cool places on the Dauphin Street. I would also make the short drive to Callaghans's for a burger, beer and live music most nights.

Go down to Point Clear. Relax for a couple of days. Hang out in Fairhope.

Taking a wild guess that Mobile does not have Uber. I normally have a rule that I don't drive in a city i don't know after having any beers at all.

I actually was just looking at Fairhope. I don't normally go for Hampton inn's but it seems like it may be a change of pace. My travel planner only gives me options for the big box hotels, but can stay in anything if I have a good recommendation.

I didn't mean to condone drinking and driving. It is a short cab ride. I really like Callaghans's but the other places on Dauphin are alright. Point Clear/Fairhope are cool but that would be a simply awful drive in traffic.

Mobile portrays itself as a mini-New Orleans but it is really more like a big Covington, La if that makes sense. You can still have a good time though.

I'd probably stay at the Grand Hotel Marriott. Older property, but it's a great place to relax, and they do a gourmet breakfast buffet in the mornings that is spectacular. Plus, it's only minutes from Fairhope.

Stay at the Battle House
Lunch at Moe's BBQ
Dinner at The Bull for the quality or Callaghan's for the atmosphere
Play golf at The Grand Hotel
Masturbate on the Battleship
Go see live music at Callaghan's, Moe's, Soul Kitchen, etc.

This is probably the best choice though
