AC is not kicking on. Just makes a buzzing sound for a few seconds and then stops.

Any quick fix or recommended AC repairman? thx

Outside compressor? Fan dying

Sounds like a bad compressor, mine did something similar a couple of months ago. If it's the compressor and the unit is at least 12 years old, you're better off replacing the system. Good luck!

I'd replace the capacitor first, then get serious.

Gonna cost you but not the end of the world. Fan motor not to hard to replace by ac guys. Think mine cost about 300.00 when I had mine replaced.

Buzzing can be the sound of the unit trying to kick on with a bad capacitor. Not enough juice to kick start the compressor.

If the fan comes on on the unit I would check capacitor and contactor. Both are cheap and easy fixes. Compressor work would be last resort.

Capacitor is bad or definite purpose contactor...simple fix but watch the capacitor...it will knock your dick in the dirt even with the power off if you don't discharge it properly (and shorting it out with a screwdriver isn't properly....they can and do explode, especially when they have gone bad).

Not compressor.
It's probably the capacitor or the relay switch
Just call A/C guy.
Should cost less than $100

Contactors buzz like crazy right before they go out
I've had my A/C repaired 4 times this year.
All times were less than $100
Last time, it was a burnt wire because the motor was running too hard

It will all be replaced soon

Fan does not come on at all. Only buzzing sound that I can hear in the house when the unit is trying to kick on.

I looked at the capacitor. Did not look like it was bulging.

If you want to try a DIY, turn off the unit, then spray all the contactor terminals with compressed air or contact cleaner.
Many times, dirt or ants get in those connections

Same thing happened to my unit a while back..I thought it was the compressor.

It was just the capacitor.

$8 fix.

I'm in Prairieville. The first few times, a friend with an A/C business did the repairs.
He was out of town last time, so I used Kelly Scott.
