20 seats filled at E's Kitchen tonight. A whiskey pairing dinner with Chef Holly Goetting from Charley G's.

First course was served with Dunhill Irish whiskey.

Flaming Garlic and Whiskey Shrimp

Second course was served with Slow and Low

Chili Glaze Pork Belly Lettuce Wraps with Sriracha Aioli (pic doesn't do it justice)

Third course was served with a rye whiskey but I forgot the name.

Petite Filet with Sauteed Brussels Sprouts, Turnip Puree, warm bacon vinaigrette demi-glace.

Final dessert pairing with Four Roses Bourbon

Chocolate Whiskey Cream Pie

Fun and delicious evening.

I have to say, the pics don't begin to show how good it was. I try not to eat dessert very often, but I am thrilled that this was one I decided to have. Perfection.

Ho. Lee. shite. Just thinking about those flavors coming together has me almost able to taste it and feeling all funny inside. The rest looks fantastic as well, but the way that sounds, I'd be the fat kid in the school cafeteria trying to trade for more of those wraps

The crust of the dessert was crushed chocolate animal crackers and butter, pressed into the bottom of the cups and then chilled. The topping was heavy whipping cream mixed with sour cream. The filling contained Lindt 70% dark chocolate, butter, whiskey ... other stuff that made it the perfect chocolate, not too sweet, just ridiculously good.

I'd enjoy that. I like darker chocolates. Sounds delicious.

Nice looking meal. Food looks delicious!

Couple of questions, where is Charley G's? Is this a spin-off of the original in Metairie?

Was the filet mid-rare or rare? Looks rare in the pic. IWEI anyway, but was curious.

She said medium rare, but it might've been slightly less than medium.

Charley G's is in Lafayette. I thought it was the original, if it's a spin-off, that's news to me.

The event was not held at Charley G's. E's Kitchen put it on.

It may have nothing to do with the one I mentioned, but it was a very popular restaurant for decades. IIRC.

That looks fabulous!

The Lafayette Charley G's was the original, as I recall.

If only we could convince her to spell "Tartare" correctly on the menu. For this reason, I've yet to order her Tar Tar.

Looks awesome Darla. One thing I don't get is putting the steak on top of the Brussel sprouts...or that type of plating in general. I guess it's to make it look prettier but I prefer function over form. Regardless, good food with whiskey= heaven.

I've always maintained that I didn't like turnips. Now I know that with enough cream and butter, turnips are quite tasty!

Balls, I think the whiskey drinkers on this board would have enjoyed the pairings. Slow and Low was my favorite.

I took only a splash of each serving of whiskey and then added water. I was driving after the meal, after all.

Matisyeezy, you are right about the pork belly and combination of flavors. With the sweet chili sauce and the sriracha aioli ... each element made it very delicious. My BFF was going so slow with hers, I was tempted to snatch her second lettuce wrap from her plate. I managed to maintain my dignity, however.

It's a pricey kitchen shop in a shopping center across from River Ranch. Maybe once a month there is a cooking class (more of a demo). A couple of them were only so-so. This was the best I've been to. Might be advertised as a secret dinner.

I bought stuff after the first two classes (a ridiculously expensive kitchen mat that is so comfy on the feet), which is one of the main reasons they host the cooking classes, I guess.
