Slice the rings. Soak in ice water. Dredge in seasoned flour and fry at 350 until golden. Don't try any other method...no need.

Always been a fan of Vidalia, myself. Enjoy the sweeter flavor it brings.

Definitely soak them first.

yellow or Vidalia

Soak in ice water first.

Mix a can of beer into a mixture of Flour, seasoning.

Dredge wet onion slices in flour, then batter.

If you prefer dry batter.

then dredge, then eggwash then dry batter.

Vidalia Onions and you want everything to be at almost freezing temp up until you drop them in the grease....... drain them on a broiler pan

Put your dry batter in the freezer before battering them.

Napoleon gave best advice.
Yellow onions soaked in ice water.
Can of beer and cup of flour, add onions
Fry until golden brown, season to taste
Enjoy

What Otis said except double dip them. Water, flour, water, flour, hot grease.

Agree. Wet batter only way to go.

Yep. I forgot the double dip. Best method ever...but I do not care for the wet batter texture at all.

It's clearly NOT the only way to go if this thread is evidence, and it's also not the best way to go.

I like a beer battered ring just fine but my favorite way is the double dipped dry method.

The double dipped dry method reportedly cures male pattern balding, ED, and causes the female bust to grow one cup size. Fact. And it does taste better, too.

Otis has it right. Used to sell a ton of onion rings.

Soak in cold water, egg wash then flour, egg wash then flour, get crazy with it and shake them up (makes the batter better) and fry.

Yeah, and you probably put tomatoes in your jambalaya as well, I'm sure.

I'm solidly #TeamOtis on this one.
