Simmons in Bastrop is offering a deal...buy the Taurus 1911 Standard (for $549.88) AND get the Heritage .22 Roughrider free.

What's the opinion on the Taurus 1911?

taurus pays me $25 for every gun i sell, and i still tell people not to get them

their revolvers arent really bad, but it's nigh impossible to frick up a revolver

just save a little more and buy a ruger or remington

I thought Taurus had upped their game in recent years. Not so?

Have seen Taurus 1911s in blue going for 399 new. You aren't getting that good of a deal.

I'm not as negative as most on Taurus, but I still don't own one. My buddy who sells guns said that they are one of the best if there is a problem and communicating where everything stands.

I'd still probably point you in another direction like the Ruger.

I would not do that, you'll have a $500 .22 pistol

I actually like the looks of their revolvers, but I hear the finishes wear off quickly.

I also suggest the Ruger SR1911 as easily the most affordable American 1911 on the market. It is an absolute bargain for what you get.

Here's my review of it:

The Thompson/Kahr/AO Custom TC1911 is a better gun for about the same price.
I just got this one for $549 NIB.

Don't do it. Get a Ruger SR1911 or RIA.

Damn that looks really good! I didn't think Kahr had upped the production enough to get them in circulation. I have never seen one in person.

I would love to do a review of that one in the future if you wouldn't be opposed to me running some rounds down the pipe.
