Quidditch is the worst sport, fictional or real, that has ever been thought up.

Ok, so I'm rereading the Harry Potter books because the last time I read them, I was 9. Overall, they hold up pretty well except for Harry is a fricking selfish tool half the time and it takes a certain suspension of disbelief the way certain stories play out, but that's a conversation for another day.
Quidditch is HORRIBLE sport. The 10 points per goal vs 150 for snitch differential ruins it. It makes it almost certain that whoever gets the snitch will win the game. It makes 6/7 players pretty much useless during most games. So that means, the only way that a team could win the game if they don't have the snitch is for them to absolutely dominate the other team, and therefore not an entertaining game to watch or the game takes forever, which isn't a good thing either.

I think what was poorly communicated was that HP was supposed to be like a once in a generation Seeker. Apparently, in other games, most games even, the Snitch is never caught. Rowling could not help her self and had Harry catching snitches left and right.

There has to be some way to make Harry the clear cause for winning a game and they don't have quarterbacks to use for the role.

So it's kind of like Family Feud when the point values triple and the first few rounds don't matter, unless you dominate them all.

Bulgaria catches the snitch in the Quidditch World Cup and still loses so....... I don't see the point of your rant.

I'm pretty sure that the game never ends until the snitch is caught. So the snitch has to be caught every game.
It was just a very poorly thought out game, and it's pretty fricking stupid.

Most games, the winner of the snitch wins. They say that in the first book. And if you catch the snitch and lose, it's a bad game. That means you're down by over 150 points at that moment that you caught it. That's a blowout and not a good game to be watching unless your a fan of the team doing the blowout.

Not true. The game doesn't end until the snitch is caught.

ETA: well i guess im wrong. In my defense, Quidditch scenes were given very little of my attention whilst reading.

We haven't seen sudden death Quidditch since the Helsinki Episode of 1912, and i think we all remember how that turned out

the triwizard tournament is pretty dumb too. Have a huge distraction from school while these young kids might get to see a few of their classmates die? What could go wrong?

The line is crossed at the point where things don't make sense within the world that was built.
And there are a lot of those points in the Harry Potter series.
Their whole economy and caste system makes little to no sense at all. How could the Weasleys be poor if you can just magik up whatever you want? How does an economy survive when they only people that don't work for the government are bartenders and novelty store owners?

Everything's relative. In the world of the books, wizards exist. Nothing unbelievable about that. When things start happening counter to the logic of the built world, I find that unbelievable.
