The U.S. Drug Enforcement Administration (DEA) announced it will publish the Final Rule moving hydrocodone combination products (HCPs) from Schedule III to Schedule II tomorrow in the Federal Register. This Rule follows the recommendation by the Assistant Secretary for Health of the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services (HHS) and is supported by the DEA's own evaluation of clinical data.

Its fricking ridiculous how Big Brother our government has become in regards to things like this.
Doing some brief reading on prescription drugs of the sort, it sounds like we are just about the only country with as heavy of regulations.
Secondly, in reading what this means and I could be wrong.
1) Have to visit doctor if you need a refill, no more doctor calling it in.
2) Limited to 30 day supply
3) Have to go to a physical pharmacy, no more cheaper by mail prescriptions
The only thing this type of regulations does is lead people to looking for alternate means... Whether its abusing other prescription drugs in an attempt to get the same affect or beginning to use illegal drugs.

Having a "cool" doctor who is decent about these bullshite rules is invaluable. Everything you listed is true now but they'll have the prescription signed and ready for pickup on the same day of every month (20th) and I just swing by on my lunch break.
If you have a jackass doctor though he/she can make you have an official visit every few months and be charged for it which would suck.

Yup, which is what I would imagine most doctors will do... CYA
So people that truly need the medication are forced to pay additional co-pays and insurers are forced to pay more out to Doctors.

Heroin use will continue to skyrocket! Thanks Fed.

You are looking at a minimum of 4 doctor visits a year.

I guess it depends on the medication and how often you need it, but if its a regular prescription that has codone anywhere in it, you are talking 12 visits a year, so another $360 in co-pays from you and another $1k or so from insurance to the docs
fricking ridiculous...

Doctors, who under schedule III could prescribe a six-month supply as a 30-day prescription with up to five refills, will now be limited to a three-month supply under schedule II. The rule also mandates that doctors must write the prescriptions in 30-day increments that can only be filled sequentially. Pain patients using the drugs will have visit their doctors every three months for a new prescription.

Thanks for the clarification
So every 30 days, you will have to go to the doctors office and pickup your prescription... Not necessarily have an office visit.
You'd likely know Russian, since I know you've lived all over the world. Is it true that we are just about the only country with such restrictions on doctor prescribed meds?

From the pharmacy side of the house, its more annoying too. The regulations for tracking c2s are much more strict than 3-5. I absolutely hate dealing with c2s.

quote:Nope. Each prescription can only be for a 30 day supply.

So every 30 days, you will have to go to the doctors office and pickup your prescription...
So a doctor can write, with one office visit, a 30 day supply prescription with 2 refills, for a total of 90 days for each office visit.

You're "cool doc" will get arse raped by the DEA if he tries to be "cool" with CII's. You want the meds? You bring your arse in for a visit, drug screen and pill counts. You will also comply with my referrals and treatment rec's. Non-compliant? Tough shite...hit the bricks. Your arse and saving you a few bucks is not worth my license. And generally "cool doc" means that someone is half assing their job and will do whatever it takes to keep from losing a patient.

no, I think it just means the script is only for a 30 day supply, which can be refilled every 30 days. No 90 day supplies, or going by the pharmacy 2 weeks early to get your refill.

You sound like a dork. And it's not my fault, it's the government's fault. Im just paying your bills.
My career has taken off in the past 2 years since I saw "Limitless" and my friend encouraged me to try using adderall on key work projects. I've been promoted twice in that timespan and I've more than doubled my salary.
Thanks, adderall

True. My wife is dreading it. It's a much bigger pain in the arse to keep track of and document C2's and will not do shite to stop diversion. The fricking pill mills make people come in every month anyway.
