"Ben Cox, owner of the Newbury Park Bicycle Shop, in Newbury Park, Calif., says he sells five to 10 bikes a week at $10,000 or more. For a handful of his customers, Mr. Cox says, "there is no ceiling."

At the rate people are dropping serious coin to do an Ironman around me it does not surprise. Plus they all have triathlon coaches.

The triathlon is what the Marathon was 15 yrs ago for white mid 30 to 40s guys pulling down good salaries

Rise in popularity of triathlons as a status symbol for certain segments of wealthy individuals. It is astounding what a 35-60 yr old will spend on gear to improve his times from really bad to slightly less bad.

My entry level CX bike was $900. You need to add another 0 behind your number for top of the line.
