Chili on top of rice vs. chili on top of Fritos

I bring this to the food and drink board to settle a disagreement between me and the wife(no pics).
I eat chili with rice pretty much every time i make chili, she only eats chili with Fritos (frito-pie style). Furthermore, she claims I am weird for eating chili with rice, and that before we got together she had never seen someone eat chili with rice. Just to be a dick I told her only poor people ate chili with Fritos, I know that's not true. Anyways please help settle this minor dispute.
is it common to eat chili on top of rice or am I the odd man?

Chili on rice is weird
Chili over top of a big hunk of cornbread is the accepted norm as far as I'm concerned

pretty interchangeable for me
just kinda depends on what I have on hand, but I do prefer chili over Fritos
I grew up eating chili over rice. Chili over rice is definitely more the poor mans way You can stretch rice much farther than Fritos.

I eat chili by itself or with some chips. Rice just sounds weird.

Never heard of chili with rice.

I never had chili with rice until I lived with a guy from SWLA at LSU. Thought it was weird as all hell
Now, thats the only way I eat it

I prefer it with Fritos, but not on top of them. The real way to go is with a small amount of rice and then top with some broken Fritos, shredded cheese, and purple onions.
ETA: The first place I had it with rice was elementary school lunch. After that I started asking my mom to fix rice with it sometimes.

Chili on rice? WTF. Fritos all day. Although I wouldn't be opposed to trying it over rice. Never thought/heard of it before now though. shite is weird!

I find it kinda odd how it seems that a lot of southern LA people have never heard of chili over rice. Y'all put everything over rice, why is this such a shock?

I'm surprised by the amount of shock in here so far too.

I wanted to say it's Cincinnati style, but I think that is over pasta. Can't recall what it is called.
It's a cheap way to stretch chili and we had it like that every once in a while, but I'm not crazy about it.
I love ground beef chili over fritos, and often eat it like that when making a quick weeknight chili with Wick Fowler's or the like. When I make "real chili" I don't eat it with anything.
ETA: As someone said, we ate chili with rice at school. That brings back some memories. Chili day might have been my favorite. Mix chili and rice and pile it as high as you could on stale saltines.

Fritos topped with chili is the only acceptable use of Fritos, IMO.

I've never eaten chili over rice

I've never seen someone eat chili with rice. I only know of it from this board.
ETA: I'm not a rice person. I don't like white beans over rice either. And never liked Red Beans and Rice simply because of the rice.

Chili on top of rice sounds just fine, but I don't think I've ever done it.

Fritos FTW. The Chili Cheese ones for a variation.
Rice deserves to have a fried chicken milk gravy over it

I've had chili over rice. Not a fan of the two textures colliding.
I'll stick with it over corn chips or cornbread.
