Traffic & Parking Update

LSU will increase pregame communication to fans with suggested incoming routes, current conditions, and any midseason adjustments made to our traffic plan. The current pregame traffic plan is considered appropriate by the consultant group, but various adjustments to personnel locations and procedures will be made. Fans will be notified by email, through social media, and on www.LSUsports.net/parking for these updates.
LSU Athletics and the Tiger Athletic Foundation have made significant investments in additional parking areas for the 2014 season, which includes the addition of 2,300 new parking spaces.
New Parking Lots for 2014

Nicholson Apts. Project (Reserved Permits) – 800 spaces
Golf Course Driving Range (Public) – 800 spaces
Gourrier at River Road – “Levee Lots South” (Public) – 700 spaces

LSU will maximize current on-campus parking space with additional personnel and painting of spaces in public parking lots.

Postgame Traffic

LSU will enforce directional exiting from parking lots. Additional personnel have been hired to assist fans with exiting into the correct post-game direction.
Southbound traffic on Nicholson Drive/Highway 30 will be contraflowed (all lanes in use) from south of Skip Bertman Drive to Bluebonnet Drive.

quote:

Street Parking Not Allowed on Burbank and Nicholson

For safety concerns, street parking will not be allowed on Nicholson Drive/Highway 30 and Burbank Drive south of Skip Bertman Drive. Tailgating is still allowed in the grass areas adjacent to Nicholson Drive, however, vehicles will not be allowed to park in this area. Fans tailgating in these areas are encouraged to use the Old Front Nine free parking lot.

People are going to be pissed at not being able to park along Nicholson. Yes you can still tailgate there, but what are you going to do, drop off your BBQ pit, stereo, food, beer, chairs, tents, etc. then go park and come back to tailgate and then pick it all up after.

Dumb. Very dumb.

No street parking on burbank and nicholson is absurd. There is no reason to not allow parking there. Those cars do not hold up outgoing traffic at all. They are basically taking away hundreds of spots and giving those people no choice but to pay to park. This may be the final straw for me.

LSU has somehow found a way to add 8000 seats while at the same time taking away almost 5000 parking spots with the reduction of the hay lot and now no parking on Nicholson and Burbank.

People will be parking halfway to lauberge for the Alabama game

Wouldn't be an issue if only people who are actually going to the game would show up.

Half the people on campus are just there to tailgate, and they want to bitch about parking and traffic when they are the problem.

That is true. I couldn't care less about tailgating. I am there to watch football.

I guess one way to reduce traffic is to just take away all the parking spots

So if it rains and they close the old front nine, golf course, etc. and people without passes can't park on Nicholson or Burbank, then...?

I think the admin is completely backwards on what they are tying to accomplish. I feel like their decisions are based on the concept of eliminating all the "extra" people who tailgate so the "football fans" can get on campus, park, and get out easy. What they don't seem to understand is the number of people actually going inside will decrease if they can't tailgate the way they are accustomed to. Just a dumb idea all the way around.

They're going to need shuttles that go from tailgates to the stadium.

Semi serious

I'm really glad I gave up my season tickets after reading this. No traffic to and from my couch.

Then you have to pay the $40 to park in the never used spots inside campus.

Wow, no parking on Nicholson gonna piss a lot of people off. I know a few people who park there because it's a straight shot to I 10 in Gonzales. Aren't there a tailgate or two along that stretch named after their location with custom trailers and all?

There are 100s of tailgates it kills. It's quite a bit.

Don't know how many with Nicholson in their name.
