Just heard late this afternoon that my friend Chef/Restaurateur Mark Maggio passed last night in Baton Rouge.

Can't seem to reach any of my friends who would know......Can anyone here confirm this?

TIA

I haven't heard but I will send a couple texts. I've known Mark for over 30 years and if so that's a real shame and too young. He had his quirks but he was a pretty funny and nice guy. As long as you weren't a partner or gambled with him you were pretty safe.

I'll see what I can find out.

Thanks Martini....He and I went to Catholic High together and were friends for years. You obviously knew him as I did......Very nice guy in all reality.

Thanks.....that's where someone told me they heard this, though they said the poster only said they heard this not that it had been confirmed and was only rumored......

I'm sure sorry to hear that. No one texted me back and I called a couple people with no response. That really is sad. How old was he? 55 or 6?

Yeah both

Italian food

Dude liked to yell. I'd get to go orders and get there early just to hear him bitch and complain at his employees. It's been years since I've eaten his food but it
was always good

maggios was the name of one of his restaurants

He had several and a bar or two as well. Loved to gamble. He will be missed.

He hasn't owned a restaurant in a long time. He had been sick and I don't think his two young daughters are of working age to pay for their fathers funeral.

Go frick yourself and while you are at it buy your own funeral policy. I've paid for several funerals and they aren't cheap.

Hate to hear this. Mark used to come to our house and make braciole for special occasions. He is also a distant cousin. RIP you ole grump.
