Dropping Home Phone Coverage or drastically reducing your plan -who has done it?

Looking at my latest ATT home phone bill...I'm paying nearly $80 a month for service we rarely use these days due to cell phones.
The sad part is that 25% of the bill is surcharges, fees and taxes.
Anyone here completely ditch home phone service...or drastically reduce their plan?
And I am not bundling services to drop rates...I am happy with my current satellite, cable and cell phone providers...
Home phones seem so archaic...

If you need home phone(security alarm) look into a VOIP service as vonage or magic jack
Saved me ton of money last year

Got rid of mine. Did the magic jack thing. Works great but you get a weird area code. Got rid of that too cause we never used it

My wife and I just dropped ours. We were paying $50 a month for something we never used. We only had it because of the home security system but we just changed that also and the new system didnt need a land line for monitoring.

I have my land line with COX.
Because I have a bundle it's cheaper to just keep the landline.
Plus....my cell number is still a LA number(never got rid of it) so it's a pain for my work to call my cell (they have to use special long distance codes from the hospital) so keeping the landline makes it easier for work to contact me when I'm on call.

pretty much everyone i know. If you just have to have a home phone, VOIP is very cheap.
But we all know you have money to waste so just keep on spendin that shite.

For those that dropped it, what number do you give out as your "home" number? if you give out your cell number, do you feel you get a bunch of pain in the arse calls?

I haven't had a home phone since 2002. When someone asks for my home phone, I say I don't have one. I don't offer my cell unless it's something that is connected to that number.

About 10 years ago, or about the time ADT rolled out the cell phone switch on their alarms.
Waste of money imo.

This. I didn't even realize there were people not my parent's age with home phones still.

Haven't had a home phone in 5 years. And - I don't miss it at all. Cell phones typically have unlimited talk these days and honestly, how much are you on the phone once you get home?

what are you worried about? Bill collectors? Tourney soccer coaches looking to recruit your son on a Sunday?

Hard to justify paying for a home line. I have never had one and I am 34 years old.

I have a home number because it comes with the bundle from my cable provider. I don't know the number and there is no phone plugged in to it. If it were cheaper to take it out of the bundle I would. Haven't had a home phone in seven years.
