I'll be fishing in lafitte next weekend, but i'm not familiar with the area. Can someone suggest some spots relatively close to the C&M Marina?

That article is a little dated... No specks in lake Salvador right now...was in there the other day and we were fishing around 4 guide boats and they were hauling in freshwater cats.

I'm no lafitte expert but the trout are down south right now on the beaches.

define "next weekend". If it's the 26th you will be fine, but if next is August 2nd be aware that a large redfish tournament will be launching out of C&M on Saturday.

Have not been in Lafitte this summer, but typically the bigger trout are out this time of year (down by Grand Isle). You'll have to at least head out into Barataria Bay SE of Mud Lake to Manilla Village (sunken reef). If the fishing is good it will look like a parking lot. There are a couple of pumping stations in the Bay South towards Grand Isle where I have typically had good luck. I think last July we kept 1 out of every 4 and still had about 40 trout to keep. The Pen may have Reds. I usually fish along the south shore of Lake Brusle for Reds when the water is rough and I don't want a beat arse.

Stay out of Salvador, waste of gas this time of year. When u leave C&M you can start working the east side of Bayou Rigolettes and just work your way south. Fish your way to south end of Rigolettes and Perot and continue on into Little lake and Turtle bay. You should pick up some reds w/o much trouble. Dead shrimp on bottom, or gold spoon usually works. Fish the cuts in the concrete walls. You can stay within 20 min of Marina and catch plenty reds, specs will take more fuel this time of year!
