My wife's employer is giving me a 5 year old female Chesapeake lab. She has been to school twice and trained by one of the best trainers in the state. All in all, she's worth 8k. I'm getting her for free!!!! And of course she has a prominent blood line. Finally got her set except for a floor in her pin. In the process of building that out of 5/4 deck boards. Plus, putting a pool in. Just the little I've worked her, she is a beast. Gonna hit the water with her tomorrow afternoon.

Lil Mud giving the first bath!!!!!!

Almost done!

Just though I'd put this one in here for the hell of it!

Is it a pure Chesapeake or a drop with a lab?
And why is baws man giving you 8k dog for free?

They are super expensive and not the friendliest of breeds (or so I'm told).

He bought it for his son five years ago. The son's job requires him to be away from home. Baws man in handicap and can't give "Remi" the time she needs. He knows I've been wanting a good hunting dog so he hooked me up. I know it sounds crazy, be it's true. And yes, full Chesapeake. I'm about to put her pen up. I plan on getting her Sunday. I will definitely post some pics.

If the dog is pure bred it is a Chesapeake OR a lab, not both. If you are talking a Chessie, my grandfather hunted with them exclusively.

Usually great motors, can handle cold better than labs, but a lot of them are mean and hard headed. It takes a firm hand to keep them in line.

I have seen some pretty substantial arse kickings by my grand-dad on his dogs and they shake it off and continue to be assholes for the day.

If you are going to now own a Chessie, you mustn't refer to it as a Chesapeake lab, it is a Chesapeake Bay Retriever. They are badass. Female will likely be far less hard headed than males and she will be very loyal.
They make great hunting dogs, but with the extra coat she will shed like hell. May want to look into getting her shaved a few times each offseason if she will be inside much.

OP, make sure you get her under control ASAP. Outstanding breed, but as others stated, hard headed SOB's when they want to be. Also, one big arse backhoe when it comes to digging.

If she is a full working dog, keep working her in the off season.
