Why do people on this board think they know better than the coaching staff?

You constantly see posts saying that X player should be starting over Y player, and most of the time, Y player has game experience while X player is usually a hyped recruit that hasn't seen the field yet. One prime example is the notion that Beckwith should be starting over Welter at MLB. Do some of y'all really think that the coaching staff is purposely not putting the best players on the field? I apologize for all the logic in this post in advance.

I'm thinking you probably shouldn't hang around sports message boards if you have a real issue with this.

This is mostly a shite on the coach and QB board. Welter picked up the shite last year since we had a good QB.
Logic wont get u far in this place. And one other thing, dont forget your commas and periods. And for heaven's sake dont misspell a word.
Some in here would rather teach English, than talk LSU football.

It's call fandom, and its not exclusive to LSU. Also, coaches aren't always right.

The word "fan" is short for "fanatic." Also, most people are nitwits.

Because Dinardo/Tepper, Orgeron, Hallman, Chizik, Dubose, Shula, Brown, Zook, Willingham, Kiffin, L., Sherman, Franchione (A&M), Rust, Marinelli, Coslet, Kotite, Jackson, H., the list goes on and on.

The better question might actually be, why do people think Coaches are so smart that they are above reproach? There are only a handful of good ones and many are not really smart enough or qualified to do anything else other than something coaching related.

The rant hates LSU.

More negative criticism from this board than ESPN, Athlon, CBS, etc. combined

I have an example:

Saints fans though Junior should start over Will Smith.

They were right

I can tell you one thing keeping Jefferson in that game was a stupid decision. There you go, one thing that I'm better at than the coaching staff

I enjoy it that at a time that NBA and MLB front offices are rushing as fast as they can to bring it statistical analysis people with different training in decision sciences that have no connection to their sport, that message boards are actually going the opposite way and insisting that only coaches can possibly make great decisions. It's like they haven't been paying attention over the last two decades to see that apparently that assumption couldn't have been more wrong. If you want the pop version of it, watch Moneyball.

A fan's hindsight sometimes is smarter than a coach's initial decision.

Something tells me that you have no clue just how terribly difficult it is to be a successful college football coach is the current college sports world.

Coaches make mistakes. Not kicking a F/G from the 13 when you are up by one TD with under 4 mins to play is a mistake. But I would still go with a successful coaches call over my own or any fan posting on forums.

Sports forums are for fans to express themselves. You just cant take any of this stuff too seriously.

All the people defending the coaching staff's decisions blindly about Welter are the same ones who called Miles an idiot constantly for playing Jefferson over Lee

FWIW, I cheer for everyone the coaches put on the field. I hope they all succeed to the best of their abilities

Change the next to last word above and include accountant, Medical, Attorney, Engineer, Scientist etc.

Im sure one of us should call Dr. Andrews and give our advice on knee surgeries.

Do u really think u, yourself, can come up with something that the coaches havent already considered?

You should spend your time doing something constructive.
Why not try to invent a new baseball play?

That's the fricking point. It is hard. Assuming Coaches always know best in something that you admit is fricking hard is stupid. That's why people know. Anyone can have insight. Read Bill Barnwell's thank you for not coaching columns. He's never coached anyone. He knows a lot better than almost all coaches the quantifiably correct call in situations that coaches routinely botch. It really is a thought-provoking column. I challenge the unfamiliar to check them out.
