The wife and I are staying in Ridgeland tomorrow night. Any suggestions on a good dinner? I have eaten at Shapley's and really liked it. Two other options on our radar are Mint and Biaggi's. Anything I'm missing? What say you food and drink board? TIA

Ely's for great steak. East of Colony Park maybe a half mile on Jackson St.

Biaggi's Italian at south end of colony park.

There is a Ruth's Chris at the northern end of Colony Park

Drive to Babalu for Tapas. I think there are a few places in Rennisance. Ticos or Elys for steak. Char isn't bad. I'm no expert, just stayed there for a few weeks.

The manship downtown is really good. Really nice bar selection. I would suggest reservations though

Ely's is fantastic and is in old towne. It is run by the original Shapley's family. Local 463 is great (maybe my favorite but a tad more casual) and is in Madison. Shapley's and Ruth's Chris are solid. People like Tico's but it ambience reminds me of a Cracker Barrel (not that there's anything wrong with that). Drago's will be opening up soon along with Revolution. I'd pass on mint although the owner is a personal friend.

It really depends on what kind of food you're in the mood for. Local 463 in Madison is a nice local spot with some good seafood and such. Anjou is in Ridgeland and is a nice rustic style French place. Manship is near downtown Jackson and is a nice wood fired kitchen with awesome bar (especially if you like whiskey). Mint (Ridgeland) and Julep (Jackson) are nice options with southern options (Mint is a bit nicer). Babalu in Jackson is a neat tacos and tapas place. Many other options right off I55 and just depends on what you're looking for.

Definitely. Or Rossini Cucina is a good option for Italian as well.

Amerigo's is legit. Shame on all of you throwing names out all over town and not mentioning Walker's Drive In.

Good stuff guys. Thanks for the info. Lots of good suggestions. I will try to narrow it down. I'll give a report after the dinner.

If Italian Amerigo is hands down better than Biaggi (sp). Ruth's is right across from Mint both good. I saw Tico's mentioned basically Ruth's but owned by an LSU guy (eating there next weekend with a group). Most of the mentioned places are good. Jackson/Ridgeland/Madison is not New Orleans but have as good if not better than BR.

We went with your suggestion, Amerigo. We were very pleased. We had a little bit of a wait, so we got to enjoy a couple of their cocktails. We had the oven roasted artichoke cheese dip as an app. I could of made myself sick on it. Damn good.

For the main course, my wife had the.....
FETTUCCINE IMPERIAL grilled chicken and pancetta with mushrooms in Parmesan cheese cream sauce

Very good. Great flavor with the chicken and mushrooms. Very rich Alfredo.

I had the...
VEAL SALTIMBOCCA stuffed with mozzarella and sage, wrapped with prosciutto and oven roasted. Served with spinach and Parmesan polenta in a tomato brown sauce

Unique dish....I liked it a lot. Many favors, but all good.

The portions were large enough, where we didn't leave room for dessert.

Great meal and great recommendation. Would definitely go back. Thanks!
