We are going to New Orleans for our anniversary. Going eat at Dick and Jenny's.

Any recommendations on what to do during the day tomorrow? Wife is pregnant and can't drink, so we are trying to find something we can do during the day.

Damn man. Tough time of the year to be pregnant and trying to walk around N.O.

WWII Museum.
Hit some of the art galleries on Royal or Julia St. area.
Catch a movie at the Canal Place Theatre with drinks and light food.
Maybe go to City Park and tour the N.O. Museum of art.

If she does feel like doing a little walking, maybe some shopping on Magazine St. uptown. You find a spot for a beer and let her go spend all of your money.

The new Riverwalk Mall is open if you need another indoor option.

anything going on this weekend that isn't always going on?

Aquarium and Canal place shopping is out.
We discussed WW2, just don't know if we want to be in a museum all day.
I really don't give a shite about art...at all.
She did mention going see a movie at the canal place theater.
And trolley car is out. I hate the trolley, especially in July.

Personally, i'd rather go to NOLA taproom for a bit, then hit up some places around magazine. But again, it all involves drinking. She wouldn't be too pleased if i got drunk and she had to watch me drink.

Well the Nola running of the bulls is tomorrow morning in the warehouse district if you want to go stand on the sidewalk somewhere and watch that shite for a while.

My wife and I may go down for Bastille Day Fete. It should all be in a relatively dense area, though I'm not sure since it's in a different spot than last year.

Why? Because i don't care to stare at paintings for an hour?

The art I like is simple stuff. I like art of landscapes. I am impressed when someone can paint a picture of a bayou landscape or a mountain landscape and it look like i was looking at a picture.

But impressionist art and stuff like that, i just don't care for.

You threw a bunch of paint together to make a mess, and your now selling it for $50,000. It's rather silly to me.

I appreciate the art in creating things, like beer, food, architecture, woodworking, etc... Just not so much when it comes to paintings.

It's the same thing. I've rode on them many times and it gets hot as frick in the summer, especially when they are packed. However, this weekend might not be too bad.

I looked it up after posting. Seems like the fun stuff doesn't really happen until sunday.

What about a good jazz bar? I prefer stuff like Miles Davis, Coltraine, Gillespy, Brubeck, etc... New Orleans Jazz i'm not really in the mood for this weekend.

I know there is the Davenport lounge. Any other places?

Good luck finding Brubeck in New Orleans, but you might like Jeremy Davenport in the Davenport lounge, or go to Irvin Mayfield's in the Sonesta. Three Muses, depending on who is playing, can scratch that itch as well.

PS Any particular reason you are choosing Dick and Jenny's?

Get your wife a pregnancy massage at The Ritz.

Good question.

BO- have you tried them since the transition?

I got it to go one night and wasn't too impressed.
