Sorry if this topic has been discussed, I couldn't find a thread.

I cook a lot of jambalaya and have recently become more active in competing in jambalaya cooking contests. I hate cutting onions . Does anyone have a recommendation on a good onion chopper? I feel like I need a good industrial stainless setup. Ideas on the best place to get one? Thanks in advance

One of the guys that cooks with us at school jam fund raisers has 2 of these mounted in wooden boxes that stand upright and have room for a gallon sized bucket underneath.

Just use your blender. Cut the onions in quarters, fill with enough water to cover onions, blend on highest speed for 2 second bursts about 3-5 times, drain water out, thank me later. We do a whole bag at a time to freeze it all for later use. No tears and quick as can be. They do not get all mushy or anything.

Yea in BR. Never heard of either of those places, but I'll definitely check them out. Thanks.

Problem with a blender is its just not ideal for comp cooking. You can't pre chop and finding power and running a blender isn't always possible. But great idea for home cooking.

I use a ninja food processor for onions at home, works like a charm. Quarter the onion, drop it in, hit it for a few 2-second pulses, and then hit it again if necessary.

Might not be what you're looking for at the camp though.

My dad has a setup like this. I think the cutter was about $100 and he had a box made for it out of stainless steel. I think they sell these at Cabella's

Looked at Cabella's last night. They only carried two, one plastic and one that was about $89 but seemed a little low quality to me. Suction cups on the bottom . Ace hardware sounds promising. I've picked up a few hoses, burners and pots from them and for some reason they didn't come to mind. Thanks for all of the suggestions.

I got this as a white elephant gift a few years ago, and I actually use it all the time for chopping up onions and garlic.

Same. I use it for all kinds of things. Even use it when I need a lot of minced garlic.
