Every apartment I ever had here I got off Craigslist. THere were also some potentials off realtor sites like Latter & Blum.

Don't know where you want to live, but my first few years here were as a student. I then had to look for an apartment in November one year and it was a lot leaner. Most leases go up in the summer since they revolve around the school year.

NOLA.com should be pretty good as well.

Good luck!

Best thing to do (along with CL) is drive around where you would like to rent and look for signs. Living in NOLA is extremely desirable so they go expensive and fast.

Don't use a real estate agent. I've been looking for places down there for months. Only the shitty ones make it to realtors. The best ones are Craigslist or just a sign in the yard

Get a real estate agent to do the work for you, you do know it is free right?

This.

And word of mouth. Most of the good places never get as far as having a sign out front.

My last two places: one from Gambit, one from Craigslist. So I think you're on the right track!

I also agree with others about driving around areas you might want to live. I know lots of people who found their places that way.

If you go the Craigslist route, be ready to move decisively, cuz he who hesitates loses the place...

I got 3 bedroom in lakeview recently.

Like the other guy said. If you use craigslist you better be on your shite. The good places are on the market for a day or two tops.
