On or off? I take mine off but I had some today with it on and the cook said he keeps in on to hold in the moisture.

I keep it on for the same reason, and I eat it.

I lightly cut between every bone that way the membrane in theory curls up and falls off.

I keep it on and don't ever really notice it when eating the ribs?

I like it, too. It can be chewy/crispy goodness.

When it's cooked, it's probably not all that different from sausage casing

I remove it.

However, I might leave it on next time the way this thread has gone

I have always removed it. Going to try leaving it on, but afraid of the consequences.

Accidentally left one on a rack last weekend. Some of it stuck to the bone and the meat just came off with no problem, and some of it came off with the meat and was not a big deal when eating it.

I've seen a couple of the dudes on that BBQ Pitmasters show leave them on too, so I really don't think it makes a difference

I always remove mine. I am now thinking this weekend is as good a weekend as any to smoke some ribs after this thread.
