What kind of beers do you like ?

I'd go with ,

NOLA: Brown, Irish Channel Stout, Hopitoulas, and Hurricane Saison. All but the HS can be found all over the city in can and on draft. Should check out the tap room too.

Parish: Envie can be found on draft.

Southern Prohibition: IPA in cans and draft

I live in Dallas. My favorite here is Shiner Bock. It's a dark lager.

It depends on the beer. Abita Restoration and Turbodog are hard to beat amongst this state's breweries.

I'm beginning to suspect that it has become the cool thing to bash Abita. Is that correct?

Watery and short on flavor. Not trying to insult but NOLA, Parish and Abita all have multiple beers that are superior to Shiner Bock.

Yeah, that NOLA brown ale looks pretty good. I like dark beers.

no offense, but maybe you should stick to abita beers. I'm not sure you'll enjoy a large serving of hops or a big roasty stout.

I don't claim to be a beer guru. I'm open to suggestions.

ask a bartender for their suggestions after telling them what you like. I hate to see people order a great $7 beer and it be just too much for them. Not saying that'll happen to you, just saying it does happen.

Avoid Bayou Teche Acadie, IMO. It tastes like a mouthful of dry white bread. I'm a guy who enjoys all sorts of beers but it was one I did not care to finish.

I'll trade you a six pack for a six pack. I'm not leaving until August, though.

If by that you mean its become cool to frown upon mediocre craft beer, then yes
