What is the smallest boat you have pulled an all-nighter in out in Gulf waters fishing the rigs? I have a standing invite to fish soon (weather permitting) in a 31T Contender.

Seems kinda small for overnight fishing.

I have fished over night several times out there but always in larger, to much larger vessels.

Thoughts?

I pulled an all nighter in a 14 foot flatboat in the Carr Dr marsh.

No fishing, just sexing. Oh the good old days.

In my 20s and 30s
fishing a 25' bertram
diving a 25' wellcraft

w/4-5 people, no it wasnt comfortable but we whacked a pile of fish. This was back before the no more fishing service figured there were no reef fish in GOM......

I didnt fish the rigs but one late afternoon me and some friends left Buras in my 19ft carolina skiff and played pirates all night in Grand Isle. It was horrible/fun.

31 Contender should be plenty big enough.

31 is definitely big enough. I know people who do it in a 26' regulator.

Took a 29' contender 110 miles out a few months ago. As long a the wind and the waves look good I'd do it again in a heartbeat!!! The first 40 miles on the way out are normally the worse.

Going deep, 26' twin vee or 25' Bertram. Staying close near passes I've done it in a 20' flat boat.

Would do it in a 31' contender without thinking twice.

31 footer will be fine, as the wind usually lays down some during the night...just be sure there are no thunderstorms moving around...

12ft aluminum. Uncles wife & my girlfriend. Haha. My dog also. Got lost frogging. Had to wait for the sun to come up. Dad's side called me wrong way for 5 years.
