That kerig thread got me fired up about how people would rather drink some good coffee, I've had coffee from all over the world , Mexico , the Bahamas , Hawaii and Europe and I have to say pikes place Starbucks is pretty legit, stump town coffee out of Portland close second

with thousands upon thousands of different cups of coffee across the country I think it's pretty dumb to try and nail down "the best."
But, I will say my favorite is at La Colombe Torrefaction in NYC. Their Corsica beans in an espresso or latte or americano.. all are phenomenal.

I couldn't possibly pick one. I won't even attempt one. I think I'd struggle to pick one in NOLA.

Confining it to NO, I had a ridiculously good latte at Mojo this past Sunday.

--Blue Bottle in SF; prob my domestic fave
--La Colombe (which you can also get in DC and Philly)
But my two favorites are in Rome:
--Sant'Eustachio, where the beans are roasted onsite in an ancient, wood-burning roaster LINK It's on a small piazza, with a few chairs outside. On a hot day, the coffee granita con panna is heaven in a glass.
--the Bar del Cappuccino in Rome. BdelC is a simple, family-run coffee bar. Luigi has been manning the espresso machine for more than 40 years, using Danesi coffee and whole milk to make great caps for a steady stream of locals who wait at the bus stops right outside on via Arenula. Unpretentious, uncalculated, and thoroughly Roman. You step up to the counter, order a gran'caffe, slug it down, and shuffle to the left to pay Mama, who mans the cash register. 1 euro 50 for an excellent coffee in a china cup.

Montecristo 1935 Havana Blend, made in a french press at my house most mornings. Yet to have anything I enjoy more.

Who knows...some of my favorites off the top of my head:
Mudhouse - Charlottesville
Mojo Coffee - New Orleans
Still Perkin' - New Orleans
Barista Parlor - Nashville
Eighth and Roast - Nashville
Empire State South - Atlanta
I'd love to go on a West Coast/Pacific Northwest "coffee tour".

Mojo is unreal. I don't know what bean they use or exactly how they brew their drip, but their medium roast is ridiculously good.
Velvet makes a mean espresso too.

Is Blue Bottle the only place on earth where the coffee takes longer to make than to drink?

yeah I hear this new pour over trend, at some places can take 10 - 15 minutes.
I think HiVolt in Nola does a pour over that takes a long time. Mojo offers one too I believe.

I like the Stumptown in the Ace Hotel in NYC. Fantastic coffee and you could look out and up the window for a view of Empire State Building.

Stumptown is delicious. Also partial towards Caffe Umbria in Seattle and Portland.
