Since when did giving a compliment become "creepy"?

Female friend's FB status:

"Was walking in Wal Mart yesterday and a total stranger came up and told me I looked pretty. Creepy!"

It depends on how attractive said person is. If an attractive person were to come up to her and say this, it would probably not be creepy.

Reminds me of this message my cousin got from some guy she was ignoring.

Not everyone can just give a complement, yall have to be on the same level... facts of life.

The best way to not be creepy is to be good looking.

Well, that message was a little (actually A LOT) overboard. Big difference between giving a simple compliment, and trying to hook up with someone who is obviously not interested.

No, she didn't. My wife gets complimented all the time, and she's always flattered and humble about it. Then again, she was raised in the 80s era of John Hughes movies, not today's era.

What IS creepy is when we walk into Racetrac and a horde of Mexicans start eyeballing her up and down and talking to each other in Spanish.

In all honesty, it's just the way the world is today. She has every right to think it's creepy, but he also has every right to compliment her. As long as he doesn't cross any lines or boundaries, it's not a big deal.

Wouldn't have been creepy if she found them attractive or if it was another woman. Bitches be fickle.

For it not to be creepy:
Step 1: Be attractive
Step 2: Don't be unattractive

Also clearly a "subtle brag" combined with neofeminist display of "strength." I give her post 1/10.

I can tell you right now, that was a way for the girl to let everyone know someone told her she was pretty without coming off like a braggart.

You see this happen often?

I agree with this. My sister (no pics) does this on facebook constantly.
