Overall liked the movie, got a little jumpy in some parts mainly because so much shite was going on.

Few Observations:

Tyler Kitsch really caught me off guard with his performance, IMO it was more than solid and by far the best I've ever seen him do.

I went in knowing nothing about this film except that Mark Wahlberg was in it but I knew exactly who the director was once the music for the opening scene kicked in.

I looked at my wife and said if Peter Berg didn't direct this then whomever did just straight up stole some of the score from Friday Night Lights.

I thought it was great. Really enjoyed it and I liked how intense it was once shite hit the fan.

I haven't seen it yet but just finished the book. It's an easy read and I'd suggest checking it out

How does the book compare to the movie? Just saw the movie, and thinking about downloading the audiobook for an upcoming trip.

It was injury porn. But a great and very real depiction.

book is much better IMO (usually are but particularly in this case).

The opening half of the book goes in depth on the training and was the best part I thought. Also the book had some different things happen, don't want to say to much though.

Yeah Explosions in the Sky did both FNL's soundtrack and Lone Survivor's. They are amazing.

Lone Survivor was fantastic, in my opinion. Well acted, well shot, and well edited. It was not too fast, and the beginning gave us enough character to invest. I walked out of the movie impressed.

They also did the soundtrack for Prince Avalanche (also staring Emile Hirsch)

Peter Berg has turned into a better than decent director. Anybody remember him as Terry "Irish" Conklin in the Great White Hype?

Sorry for the thread hijack.

Peter Berg only did Battleship with the guarantee of a green light for Lone Survivor. I'm a HUGE Pete Berg fan, and I think this is his best work which is saying a lot. I think he always does a great job of telling all the main characters stories, much like in FNL .

Great movie for what it is. Doesnt follow the book well at all. Movie was dramatized 100% and strayed from the real story but the movie is worth watching.
