"Conclusion:

Going into the 2014 season, the New Orleans Saints have to be considered one of, if not the most complete team in football. Producing both a top 5 offense and defense, but then adding playmakers to that mix is not common in todays NFL. It has actually been known to be the other way around due to free agency and salary cap.

The 2014 New Orleans Saints will arguably be better than the team that won the Super Bowl in 2009, but will achieve that 2009 teams same result, a Super Bowl Championship."

Love it.

And it's hard logic to argue with.. Honestly. People think I'm joking when I tell them we're taking it. It's partial homerism but also it's just logical. We were already a very good team and we really didn't do anything this offseason BUT make upgrades, except for Sproles. Barring major injuries we're DEFINITELY the most complete team in the league.

I hope he writes one of these for all 32 teams so that we take off a jinx

I agree we are very complete. I also feel our LB core is better than people on here say it is. Really the only position I'm somewhat worried about is kicker.

It's hard to argue with anything said in that article.

I hate sunshine pumping, but there's a lot of good stuff in there.

Pretty sure Patrick Barber isn't jinxing anyone.

I'm with you on the sunshine pumping but only if it's unrealistic optimism. This article mimics everything I've been telling friends and fellow saints fans that I associate with. So, I had to post it. There really isn't much on it that can be argued with it.

pff and everyone's eyes say otherwise about the LB, but I agree I do worry about kicker.

Worst case, we can bring back hartley after getting humbled if graham falls off the face of the earth.

People that don't understand our team (national writers and falcon fans) want to keep arguing that we got worse or they got exponentially better, but I just can't see where we dropped off?

Lost Harper and Jenkins, gained a top 3 Safety in the league and re-signed a #3 safety that could be someone's starter.

Lost Smith, return of Butler

Lost Greer, drafted SJB and signed up Bailey

Lost Moore and Sproles, drafted Cooks and return of Morgan (possibly)

Lost DLP, lateral move at worst with Lelito

Lost Brown, no comment.

Our starting defense's average age is: 25.9
Hicks: 24
Jenkins: 24
Jordan: 24
Galette: 26
Lofton: 28
Hawthorne: 29
Butler: 26
Vaccaro: 23
Byrd: 27
Lewis: 28
Robinson: 26

Good read. I think he and a bunch of writers will be shocked at the impact PRob has coming back this season. Guy had all the tools and showed it in 2011. The atrocious 2012 zone scheme and overall defense made him look really bad, but that was more a horrible system than anything.

Saints have the pieces in place but it will all depend how they are used.

The 2011 team was better than the 2009 team imo.

I feel Hawthorne and Lofton, along with Harylson are a pretty solid LB crew.

Yea, need more competition at K but Graham hopefully will be good.

We will be much better at S

Losing Greer sucks but I feel good about our corners. Maybe Greer comes back and placed on PUP, doubt it though.

Not concerned about losing Moore with Stills and Cooks. Losing Sproles kinda sucks, wanted him for 1 more year.

I feel Lelito will be better at run blocking, no clue about pass blocking.

We cannot afford any injuries to Armstead or Strief this year.

Why did I do all this when I agreed to just about everything you said?

It's not huge, but we picked up a supposed run blocking specialist HB, too.

We definitely needed help with run blocking last season.

Forgot about our new fullback. I was fullback in HS, its a very respectable position

Would've loved to play Full back in HS.

I played mainly DT with some formations at DE and NT at 6'2 210. I should've been a OLB or FB/HB. Hell, even playing DE on a consistent basis would've been awesome.

To the OP:

Basically everything said in there I agree with. I hate doing the sunshine-pumping route, but this team is stacked.

The only question mark is can this team play well enough on the road during the season to secure home field.

Kicker? Pftt. We will score at will and often. We will suffocate teams on defense. We wont be kicking field goals. Hell, we dont even need the extra points. Keep em....
