Has anyone ever purchased / installed themselves?

I'm buying my son (17) his first truck and since we all know 17 yr old boys can't be trusted I want to track his arse.

You sure this isn't for your wife's car?

Terrible decision... Let the kid live and learn from his mistakes. It will give you some last minute parenting opportunities before sending him to college.

What happens when he rides with his friends? You should get a chip implanted behind his ear instead.

to each his own, but my parents allowed me more freedom that I might should have had...but it allowed me to grow into being that responsible. Not saying I always did...but it was a progression.

Ya can't trust him, but you're buying him a truck? Sounds pretty retarded.

Dear Lord, don't do this unless you want him to grow up with serious issues towards you.

Where exactly are you trying to stop him from going anyway?

Damn - tough crowd. I do like the chip behind the ear idea.

You're a terrible parent if you put that on his truck and he has yet to do anything extreme with it.

Don't listen to those who don't have kids. Much less driving age kids.
There's a Garmin tracking device you can get. Shove it down in the backseat, sign up for a monitoring subscription.

The kid is 17 and almost no longer a kid.

Time to see how good a job parenting you did.

If you can't trust him, then he doesn't need a car.

He will resent you for it and when he's on his own, he's going to get far away from your sick over-controlling arse.
