I need to take Mrs. Couyon on a nice beach vacation. Beaches are her favorite thing. Myself, I think a beach is only good for 2 things, fishing and watching scantily clad wimmins of all shapes and sizes cavorting around or rubbing slick stuff on their bodies.
I'm thinking the Caribbean, but I want to go somewhere where I can get at least one good day of fishing in. Will probably go at least 4 maybe 5 days.I thought about Key West also, but don't know anyone that's been. I hear the fishing is good there. Also would like other things to do.
I throw the floor open for the OB. I'm not OT rich, so leave out the expensive marlin trips. Thanking the Board in advance

Went to Turks and Caicos recently. I heard they have decent fishing there. Inshore and offshore.

Belize. Second largest barrier reef on the planet, good fishing, Mayan ruin tours. Lots to be done.

no beaches, but if you rent a boat, you can fish and she can sunbath anywhere. just pull up to a sandbar or island. Catch/snorkel for lobster starting late july/mid august

We've rented a house on Little Torch Key (just before Key West) a few times. They can be quite reasonably priced. The fishing around there is pretty decent if you rent a boat. Also, there's a couple of tiny islands not far from there by boat where you can just anchor out and play around the beach all day.

I lived in Aruba for quite a while working there. There's some decent fishing there as well. If you look for a house/condo to rent instead of staying at a hotel, then this could be a pretty cheap vacation as well (air travel will cost more than the rental).

Holly Beach

+1

Grand Isle has beaches, and the fishing is great.

We've been to Grand Isle many times and love it. Just want to go somewhere different. Always wanted to go to Belize, heard a lot about it. Black's sounds interesting but I didn't see much mention of the fishing.
The Keys area has always intrigued me. I will have to research some of these more.
I'm hoping to hear about a home run place that has nice beaches, safe, decent fishing and plenty to do.

hell there is one about 100 yards from LT, picnic island and you can catch yellowtail snapper about 1/4 mile from there right off little palm. We stay over on Ramrod.

LINK I've stayed at this one.

And this one: LINK

ETA: Ramrod is nice as well. There's tons of reasonably priced rental houses in the keys. And if you want to hit the night life in Key West, it's only a short drive away.

You want to really relax and don't need a lot of luxury? I recommend the southern tip of the Mexico on the Caribbean Side at Xcalak. Not my pics...

There is a beach right across the lake from you!!!
That beach not good enough for Ms. Couyon???

May be able to get some info on the Keys. Got a sister-in-law that has a place down there.

Hell I told her the same sun shines on our flippin patio, but she and her sister insist it's "different" at the beach!!
Let me know about the Keys; I've always wanted to see that part of the country. Just need a beach, fishing and colbeer for me, but she like to do other stuff too.

That place looks great. How hard is it to get to? How much for flight, room?
Any narco activity? Don't want to get in a gunfight!

Fly to Cancun, have to rent a car and drive south about 5 hours. It is safe down there and you can stop for a night in Playa, visit Tulum, and caves etc on the drive down or up. The rooms are only ~$100-$120 a night.

They have a facebook page with lots of reviews. There are a couple of small restaurants in town and a dive shop. San Pedro Belize is 1.5 hours away and you can take a day trip, but we found it not really worth the visit. I have visit a lot of places, many are places 1 and done. This is a place worth revisiting.
