Pulling Bouman was not nearly CPM's worst call Sunday

It just wasn't.
Leaving him in or pulling him were both logical....esp with a full pen.
The 2 much worse decisions were:
- not going to Broussard in 8th to put out that fire (either after Survance singled or after Grayson grounded out)
- pitching to Survance (best hitter) with 1st base open & a .211 righty on deck
Those were horrible &, at the time, the entire crew I was with (which included 6-7 former pro ball guys) were shaking heads.....this included LSU & UH guys.

Survance should have ejected himself after the dead ball play.

This would've fit very nicely in the current 9 page thread already rolling. Whack!

Leaving McCune in after a rough inning was the worst call IMO.

CPM making the team pickup the ball when it was rolling down the first base line was bad. And then interfering with the runner. Why can't CPM make the team wait on the ball to roll foul?

Especially considering we walked Survance, although not intentionally, earlier on the game and got out of a jam by getting the 2 hole out. We had already laid the blueprint. Why we didn't walk Survance in the 11th, who knows?

I think some people like to make stuff up. Leaving McCune in was a bad move, but the 7th was not a "rough inning."

Great post and spot on...this one is going to take some time to get over...out pitched, out hit, out fielded and out coached...only the best to Houston...they deserved to win

except that they gave us a double play with a bad bunt.

I second this! At some point we just have to recognize that Houston is a very good team and got hot at the right time. They must be given a lot of the credit for making the Tigers look bad in the blow out last night. Give 'em credit, Houston clearly came to play and weren't intimidated on the big stage or playing at the Box.

May have been the turning point of the whole game....

That doesn't mean it was a "rough" inning. McCune walked a guy then got a double play on a shitty bunt attempt and then got a groundout. He threw 10 pitches and faced the minimum number of batters in the inning. Not even close to a rough inning. McCune should have come out earlier than he did, but the 7th inning was in no way "rough".

however, we were still up by 4 runs
KM starting the 8th was not as bad as leaving him in too long
Not bringing in Broussard when the game is on the line was inexcusable.

lolwut? Do you think the players look into the dugout at PM once the ball is in play to determine when they should pick it up or not? I've heard some criticism of the coaches on here, but this might be the most ridiculous thing I have ever seen.

Considering the horrible bunt that bounced off the bag right into Moore's lap, could we stop fighting if we called the inning "lucky" instead?
We had the first base dugout that night. The bench and the coaches were about 40 feet away from it. The players might not have looked for help but somebody might have spoken up.

Bring in Broussard at the right time, and we are playing this weekend and outscored UH 9-1 in 2 games.

Fricking this. 1. Taking out bouman was an OBVIOUS mistake. Don't think I need to delve into how he was dominating up to that point. 2. Running after the grounder up the first baseline line was clearly the pitchers f up. Let the first baseman play it. 3. Broussard obviously doesn't know when to throw what pitch and how to handle runners on base. TWICE he throws a curveball into the dirt with a 3-2 count even though they haven't come remotely come close to his fastball. Finally he realizes this and blows smoke with94 mph fastball for the final out. If the coaches were callig those pitches then they are even worse. It's like he(they) had an epiphany.
And in maneiris defense, the players should execute no matter his decisions, but it is what it is.

Yeah, that Alan Dunn guy must be terrible at calling pitches. But that last out for Broussard was a thing of beauty, but I'm not sure I believe that Jake Fraley touched 94 mph with that smoke he threw from left field to finish Houston's night at the plate.
