This is now my 5th visit here this year, and I always make it a point to grab a sandwich before I head home. All 5 times, the sandwich is just too big to finish the whole thing. You get to pick from about 10 different breads, 10 dressings, multiple meats, up to 4 grilled veggies, a generous portion of cheese, pickles, tomato and lettuce among other things. The oven they use creates the perfect warmth & crunch from the bread.

Here's a pic from my lunch today, and this is only HALF of it.

Pictured is Russian rye bread, turkey breast, with basil pesto and goat cheese.
Veggies include grilled zucchini, grilled red pepper, capers, lettuce, thinly sliced pickles (like you see on the Cowbell burger), fresh jalapeños & banh mi slaw.

All for 6.49

That is absurd!

No offense, but that looks like a soggy, sloppy mess.

Sounds good, though.

I could spend an entire day in Central Market. I wish Louisiana would get that or an HEB.

CM does a good sandwich, but Local Foods has the best sandwiches in the city.

That's probably not even the best sandwich in a 5 block radius.

I'm a pretty big fan as well. I don't know if I would say it's the best sandwich anywhere, but it's definitely one of the best "build your own" type sandwich places.

I once saw someone request a sandwich at CM with olive salad, pickles, pickled jalapenos, capers, banana peppers, swiss cheese and mayo. No meat, no other veg.

People lose their fricking minds in the sandwich line.

I was exaggerating to make a point. But at 6.49 plus no additional money for tip which is hard to find these days, it's most certainly the best bang for your buck.

Only one I've tasted is that chicken one, and it was pretty good.

Had a pretty good sandwhich at Corner Bakery the other day, first time, had pretzel bread.

That particular sandwich doesn't look appetizing, but it's a build your own, and you see what you can get for 6.49

Touch crowd in here. I'd definitely give that whirl.

It's no AM Mart, though

I can assure you CM isn't on my list of places I must eat at when I'm in Houston.
