Well, she is slowly losing her mind and that is unsettling and you probably don't want to jump out and say, hey...I'm losing my mind. Sure, if anyone can fix it, Walter is the man for the job.

Maybe. But with all the shite going on around her/them, it's not like she'd be some sort of weirdo who is losing her mind...there are clearly reasons for it. And this is tame in the realm of some of the shite that they've seen and done.
quote:

I wonder what happened to Bell in this timeline.

I forget, but don't we get more Bell at some point this (or next) season? I know Nimoy retired at some point, but I thought he broke that retirement to appear on Fringe here and there.

Seems like an AWFULLY huge part of the show to not have had him on for very much looking back.
quote:

Isn't she a full blown agent. I don't see her as being unable to do the job.

Sure, she is, but I'm saying there should've been more than just her there since the information he has was so important. Like even if it was just Broyles so he could command people and put things together to address the kid's information as he saw it. Just seems like it was maybe a little above Astrid's paygrade.
quote:

Lincoln is the king of shade. CBlocking in all realities.

It's very annoying.

That being said though, I do actually really like Link on the show. Huge upgrade from that bitch Charlie.
quote:

Yeah, they got to cute with the dueling Ninas. She is the first person we have seen who is still alive after a shifter takeover. I can't remember if they hybrids use the same technology. Think we are probably just supposed to look away. Nothing to see here.

I hope not. Like I said, even if it's a throwaway line about the new SS tech, that would be fine with me.
quote:

I like the actor who plays DRJ but I still have no clue what he was trying to do or what his motivation is. Not sure we find out

Agreed. I just know he's a bad guy and always a step or three ahead of everybody else. Surely his actual intentions have to be deeper than "jumping back and forth and being an a-hole to Fringe Division,' but I honestly don't remember if we get that explained or not.
quote:

With all the other giant holes, I am not sure we will get any better explanation. Peter somehow erased that he survived but because of LOVE.... it didn't take. Yadda yadda yadda.

I actually get the thing about people having such a connection to him that it brought him back. I just hope we get it explained a little better than that.

But I don't have my hopes up by any means.

No shite.

I've dropped about $2,200 worth of work on a single fricking tooth in the last week and a half.

Another thing is it just me or have the monsters of the week kinda sucked recently. We want to know more about the machine, Nina shapeshifter and if we can actually trust real nina, what is going on with september, I could go on and on. No-one cares about some deformed supposedly dead husband who is killing people by dehydrating them.

I actually think they've been great lately, because we get the formulaic "MotW" episodes, but the overall plots are advancing and we are getting closer to huge plot reveals.

I've really enjoyed the mix lately.

I stated my beef. There sure are a ton of genius level mad scientists out there. X-Files was more of naturally occurring oddities but Fringe has tons of mad scientists using crazy arse unheard of tech. Can't beef too much about it since everything Walter does is unheard of.

About to get 2 teeth yanked. One being a wisdom. Blood Pressure rising! Have no clue if I will feel like posting or watching this weekend. Hopefully I get some happy pills and not just a prescription for extra strength Tylenol.

I'm going to try and respond, I just got back from the hobbit. If I was't such a huge tolkein and LOTR/Hobbit fan I would have hatted it. It is really a fan only movie I think. But if you are a Tolkien book nerd you will probably hate it. So there is a small group of people who will like it.

1) people who have never read the books, but liked the movies
2) people who are casual readers of the books, and liked the movies.

everyone else will probably hate it or think it is ok.

Before I saw the Hobbit I made it a point to rewatch all of the movies including Lord of the Rings. Blew my mind when I realized that Walter Bishop is also Denethor.

It's both refreshing and weird that I have forgotten so much about this show. I remember when it was airing that sometimes I'd go weeks without watching them, so I'd have to catch up on three or four episodes some weeks. And I remember being confused by a lot of things about the show as well, most of which I have corrected this go round. But it's kinda cool remembering the show, but not remembering enough that watching episodes still feels sort of new and fresh. I've really enjoyed this rewatch so far.

I've enjoyed it too, but because I watched it in a binge the first time I saw it so my experience was much different.

I don't think I would. She never (ever) is completely forthright about anything until she absolutely has to be...and even then she still sometimes hides shite. Shady bitch, no question.

I think they eventually trust her and she ends up being trustworthy, but maybe I'm wrong.

Ok that is about it.

I'm about to watch the LOTR series. An actual watch through of the six movies.

Still a bit out of it from the tooth extractions so limited reviews.

Season 4 Episode 16
Nothing as it Seems

I was wondering when Porcupine Man II would happen. Knew there was another one coming but forgot when.

Boo! Shrink.

One thing. I seem to recall a lot more interaction with Rachel and Olive than actually happened. I thought she was in more episodes than she actually is in.

Not sure how sane you would stay not being able to remember your life. I know Olivia wants to be Peter's Olivia but that isn't going to work well for her as Broyles pointed out she didn't even realize she had a nephew and her sister is married. That's going to be an awkward Christmas dinner.

Poor Olive, off the team. I'm sure Lincoln is going to be an insufferable prick about Olivia.

Interesting how similar things are happening but at a different point in the timeline.

Other than a look, Lincoln was less douchey than I thought he would be. Ha! 2 seconds later and there is the Lincoln we all know and love.

Do they teach illegal entry at Langley?

Walter needs to work on his bedside manner. Although who can resist peanut butter and bacon.

Aphid!

Did not remember the wings! Nothing says evolution like a winged porcupine beast.

One thing this show really has over the X-Files, supportive management.

If this was the X-Files, Olive would be on unpaid leave and Broyles would have torn her a new one to cover his arse.

How screwed up does your life have to be that you want to be a flying porcupine?

That is one scary arse zoo!!!

Season 4 Episode 17
Everything in its Right Place

Field trip for Gene!

Lincoln to the Walternate universe.

Yay! Red is back.

A bit confused. If the zone was uninhabitable, then wasn't it covered in Amber? How could someone have been in there other than the time immediately after the Amber was removed?

I know the show doesn't strive for realism but with that many decomposing bodies, those dudes would be puking everywhere from the stench. Oh and as usual, they stumbled onto 20 dead bodies and showed zero reaction.

Not sure why everyone over there wouldn't recognize the 3 hole punch in the mouth telltale sign of shifting. I get that Broyles is trying to obfuscate since he is a shifter but he better not push back hard or the others will begin to suspect his motives.

That embedded shifter device was sick. I felt like I was watching some Japanese tentacle porn there.

"Girls, get off the line" Ha! I love Fauxlivia.

The have real time video surveillance and they still couldn't box in the suspect. Just like the 93 times the perp got away from a surrounded building in 24.

Glad to see both sides of the universe still can't seem to test the TOP people for Shifteritis.

Shitty sniper.

Fauxlivia using those Olympic skills.

I didn't remember until he was shot that it was the Alternate Lincoln who died. I knew one of them did but couldn't remember which one.

A bit creepy for Lincoln to jump in and try to hang out with Fauxlivia.

Season 4 Episode 18
The Consultant

Is she a shifter or is Nina full evil in the Alterverse.

Don't you hate it when gravity goes all wonky like that?

What help would Olivia be able to give with the autopsy and at what point did Peter become Mr Autopsy man. Also does anyone really believe that Peter, Olivia or Broyles would let Walter head over by himself? Forgot Lincoln was over there but I am still not sure Peter would want to leave Walter alone over there.

Yikes! I sure wouldn't want to walk into my house and see Mr. Jones visiting with my family.

Wait, is Broyles not a shifter? I guess we just assume anyone working with Jones is a shifter. Apparently this version of Jones is better at exerting pressure / reward to get people to do his work.

Wow, another Astrid Twin Billing. She probably actually got some money this week.

Ha! Loved her reaction over the coffee. If the world is healing, can they get some coffee plants from the other universe and start hooking people on caffeine again?

How does poking a knife in the side of a briefcase unlock the lock which is usually in the middle of the face of the case?

Lot of dangerous visits between Broyles and Jones. Given that he knows there is a mole hunt, you would think he would have told Jones to back off. Maybe he wants to get caught.

Jones sure is a smug prick. Can't wait for his atoms to disassemble. For the 100th time, what is his motivation. What the heck is he trying to do? I guess it could be nothing more than garden variety insanity.

Ha! Walter in a woman's robe.

How did Lincoln and Olivia get to the Island so fast? Is there a transporter they haven't showed us?

Glad Broyles stepped up and turned himself in.

I'll try to comment but I've got a lot of makeup work to do to makeup all the damn tooth time I missed.

OP is updated.

I had lots of Christmas shite this weekend, so I wasn't able to catch the three episodes. I hope to do that either tonight or tomorrow night (or both), and will add my thoughts and comments (and responses) when I do.

Also, note that this week's assignment is the end of season four already. So after this coming week, we'll have another week off to digest, rest, and discuss S4 and everything up to this point. I know we've been going at the same pace since the beginning, but it sort of feels like we blasted through S4 pretty fast for whatever reason.

ETA: I saw The Hobbit over the weekend, and thought it was pretty awesome. Easily the best of the trilogy.

season 5 is the last and it's pretty good and intense should we slow it down or the same pace?

Yeah most reviews I've read haven't been good.

Best I've seen is that it is more of the same. If you liked 1 & 2 you will probably like 3. If you didn't, you won't.

I think they are far too cartoony and although The Hobbit is lighter in spirit the movies are chock full of decapitations so I don't want to hear how the tone is different in the Hobbit (Book) thus silly 1000 foot falls not harming anyone is fine.

I don't hate 1 & 2, but don't plan to rewatch them nearly as much as LOTR.

LotR is my #1 trilogy/movie set of all time. It's that good.

The Hobbits are enjoyable, but relatively forgettable for me. I saw both of the first two in theaters, and haven't watched them since. So I wanted to see the last one in theaters, and just really liked it. It was less silly than the other two IMO (even though there were some cringe worthy parts for sure...Legolas running up the falling stones?? GTFO). But all in all, I thought it was cool though. It may be because it reminded me a bit of Two Towers, which is my favorite of the original trilogy.

I really wonder if a limited budget kept Jackson in check on LOTR.

I know after the success of Fellowship, they added some budget for reshoots and added effects, but I wonder if he had a massive budget from the start, if we would have seen the same over the top nonsense in LOTR.

last comment on this than back to fringe.

I've been a huge fan of the Middle Earth Saga I guess you could call it. Peter Jackson did a good job of retelling the LOTR if you compare it to the book, but separate from the book it was one of the best movie trilogies of all time. The hobbit not so much, and it was way off from the book, but still lot's of parallels too.

but I will own all 6 extended versions of these movies when they release the last one. I won't enjoy the hobbit as much as LOTR, but it is still good. Another thing Tolkien's books are among the greatest books ever written. as you may or may not know Tolkien was a devout Catholic and even though he didn't intend to write it this way. He very specifically said that I'm not writing religious allegory like C.S. Lewis and the Chronicles of Narnia. But even despite this Catholic themes are present all throughout his books. Respect for creation, (see the elves) the destructiveness of technology (it is a-little over the top but the idea of obsessive materialism is destructive to society is I think an accurate statement), how power is corruptive (the ring) the importance of self sacrifice (frodo, sam, Gandolf, Aragon) I could go on and on. This is why I love these books so much, and also it is an enjoyable read as well.

Anyway back to fringe and Gene.

Caught up last night.

Nothing As It Seems

Ah, yes...the porcupine werewolf redo episode. I remember this happening.

I feel like if he just took 20 seconds and told them he was in danger of turning into a giant porcupine werewolf thing they'd at least understand more...even if it's unbelievable, just yelling at them saying "We're all gonna die, don't let me out that door" isn't very helpful really. But I guess it's classified shite that he can't tell them (he alluded to that).

How the frick does Peter remember all those details about the pervious case? "Oh, that airline? Was it flight 718? And the dude's name was Marshall Bowman?" Steel trap, that Peter..

Could Lincoln be any more bitter about Peter being with Olivia? I'm not sure he could. Stop being a shade-throwing a-hole, Link.

HOLY frickING shite, that scared me when porcupine dude attacked Link in the house. I literally yelled "OH shite" on my couch.

Walter: "Don't be alarmed, but you may be infected." That whole conversation between he and Lincoln was pretty awesome.

Weird ending, especially since it doesn't really go anywhere. Had a top men feel to it.......top.......men...

Everything in Its Right Place

Fauxliv. Yay.

So the altverse is healing? That's cool.

Hahaa. I love the altverse shite and how it's different. "What's Batman?"

And instead of Batman, they have Mantis.

So the altverse has animated newspapers? What is this, fricking Hogwarts?

This conversation between the two Lincolns is pretty cool. Do they ever find out where their paths diverge?

Ole shady AltBroyles again..

The Links talking while hunting this suspect seems a little stupid. The radio needs to be clear so people can communicate with everyone about what's going on...not so you two can talk about fingering prom dates.

I'm confused...how did they know to go straight to Nina (or where she was)? Did I miss something?

Does Altrid know about Shady AltBroyles? Or is she just nervous about Link?

Also, I don't remember AltLee dying, or at least not this early. Damn..didn't see that coming.

I don't want to be a dick, but there is ZERO chance that Lincoln gives his partner's little trinket thing to this random dude. No chance at all. It's important to him. So important that he gave it to Liv because he is in love with her, and he finally gets it back and immediately gives it to some dude who helped them on a case? GTFO.

That whole last ten minutes or so of the episode confused me. So they used our universe's Canaan to fool Nina? But how did they know to use him if they never found the other one (and he was a shifter anyway)?

I was really tired last night, so I may have dozed off for a minute and missed something.

The Consultant

I really like the episodes when the teams work together on shite. Really liked the last one with Link going over, and now with Walter going over.

So ole DRJ is now making home visits, and AltBroyles is doing all this shite for his son Chris I guess? I forgot about him being sick and all that...what was wrong with him originally?

Rainman Altrid again...for some reason, she really bugs me.

So AltBroyles is trying to justify his actions based on talking to Walter and knowing what he did to try to save Peter.

I assume AltBroyles is gonna die soon since we are seeing so much of a more human side to him this episode..

Fauxliv with the BOOM on Nina to out AltBroyles.

So the guard yells at them for breaching and not signing in or scanning badges or anything, and starts to run after them, but two seconds later when they're waiting at the portal thing, he's gone? What did he do, just give up after a few steps? Glad to see that security at the DEPARTMENT OF frickING DEFENSE is still shite.

Do we still have ANY idea of what DRJ's motives are with all of this? Why the hell would he want to collapse BOTH universes? Makes no sense since he, you know, lives in them (along with everything and everybody he knows). It's weird.

I really enjoyed these three, and feel like things are moving forward pretty quickly now. Can't wait to finish up S4 this weekend.
