Background: My SIL and wife found 2 pit puppies on the side of the road about a year ago. They bring them to in laws house, where they already have a lab and pug. SIL convinces in laws to let her keep one.
BIL takes one of the puppies to his house.

Over the last year, they have had a couple of run ins with the pug an my little dog. Last week, BIL decides that his family can't handle the dog (they have a 3yo) and drops it at in laws house until he can find another home.

Over the weekend, both pits attacked and killed the in laws pug for walking in the room they were in. Ripped her apart. They are in a kennel right now until they can get rid of them somehow as no shelter will take them.

And to think that I almost let my dog stay there while we were out of town makes me sick to my stomach.

Tldr: pit rescues killed family pug. Can't trust em

It sounds like you honestly married into a really trashy family.

No dog should act like that if socialized properly.

Prayers sent, you wife sounds like she might have the trashy genes too, hopefully they never express themselves.

However............Id put a bullet in both of them and call it a day.

Id probably do the same to most anyone that killed my dog.

The pits are being put down today. As for their upbringing, they were on the streets for a good while and were territorial, especially around food. They worked with them every day to break them of it.

However, after the first run in, I told them to get rid of them. It would only end badly. Sadly, I was right.
