Taking a roadtrip this weekend to the brewery. Is there still a restaurant in Madisonville on the Tchefuncte? Forgot what it was called but had been there 20 years or so ago.

Any other other potential recommendations in this area. Casual preferred, late afternoon or early evening dinner. Thanks in advance.

PS.... I rarely see anything about Covington, Mandeville or this area on this board.

Friends on the river closed down last year due to a fire that pretty much destroyed it. There is a new one in the works and construction may have started on it, but it is not an option for you this weekend.

Morton's is at the bridge on Hwy 22, along the river, but on the street side instead of river side. It is decent, but nothing spectacular.

Hooked' Up is a neat place on the river at Marina Del Ray. They have bands outside on the weekends and there is great scenery there. The food is OK, but you go there more for the scenery than the food. If you are in Covington, you may want to try the new Chimes on Hwy 190. They have excellent beer options and the restaurant is really nice. I am not a big fan of their food, but the atmosphere is top notch for this area.

I was watching DDD this weekend and they had one for Louie & the Red Head Lady. It's in Mandeville. Looked delicious. Try it and report back to me.

We took a road trip to Mandeville yesterday, from Bay St Louis, and it was pretty neat. We drive to the lake and checked out all of the outdoor restaurants. Cool place.

There's a brewery I think by the old RR tracks, and an English pub type place on the lake.

Went once right after they opened and it was damn good. My parents go all the time and love it.

Old Rail is really good. Their Cow Catcher Milk Stout is one of the best beers made in the state. And the food is excellent.

If you go to Covington, check out New Orleans Food and Spirits and get the voodoo rolls

I like the brew pub myself. I believe it's the old brewery. The food there is surprisingly good. Stuffed quail with the purple haze reduction is awesome!
