Okay, I know it's the middle (or at least the side) of nowhere. Anything good lurking out in the woods? He'p me out.

Oh, c'mon: people live out there and there are plenty of affluent vacationers. Surely there is someTHING tucked away up there? Gas station with decent breakfast? Hole in the wall catfish shack?

Slim Jim as an app, can of sardines with crackers as a second course, third course can be a can of Vienna sausages (get kinky with the jalapeno flavored), and wrap it up with Nabs for dessert. All will pair perfectly with a Mountain Dew.

Fisherman's Galley is right up from the Pendleton Bridge.

Typical fried food along with some pretty good down home cooking like chicken fried steaks, hamburger steaks...that sort of thing.

There is a restaurant at Cypress Bend (the golf course/resort). It's not bad.

Short drive from Toledo Town over to Zwolle to get some Zwolle Tamales...delicous.

Or drive into Many and hit Country Boy restaurant.

Any reason to limit yourself to only the Louisiana side? There are a couple of places just across the bridge in Hemphill, TX.

No reason at all. What's good on the TX side?

Hemphill BBQ

And then this place opened within the last year or so. I haven't been yet but a few people have said it's good enough.

Fwiw, don't expect any of the places I've mentioned so far to be anything that is going to blow you away but they're all good enough to go grab a meal at.

Oh, and there's a place right up from the bridge, can't remember the name, that sells boiled crawfish to go.

Fisherman's Galley is always good.

If you are staying off of Hwy 1215, Maria's (Shell station) has excellent hot tamales. Been a favorite of mine for 25 years.

The Mexican restaurant at the corner in Toledo Town has had major DHH issues past few years. fyi

There are several places between NO and TB to stop of boudin, sausage and the like-Bergeron's in Lobdell, Kartchner's and Billy's in Krotz Springs, Bourque's in Port Barre. People have mentioned other sources in Opelousas and Ville Platte. Buy some frozen meat pies from Lasyone's in Natchitoches and, as mentioned, tamales in Zwolle.

Most of the folks I know who have places in TB or vacation there, bring their own food with the exception of the fish they fry that are caught on site.

The Mexican restaurant at Toledo town is fricking terrible.

There used to be a good BBQ stand going north on 191 just before the Lanana Bay bridge.

Franks in Zwolle for tamales.

Man, I miss Toledo Bend. I grew up that area and really took it for granted.

Same here. We had a camp at Solan's for a couple decades when I was growing up. Finally gave it up when the camp went a bit south. My uncle still lives on the lake near Lanana Bay so I get to go fish every few months.

Cypress Bend is decent food. You can sit at the bar and get a burger or fried fish for pretty cheap.

My parents still live up there so I always make an effort to get out on the lake when I visit. I was never much of a fisherman but I just enjoy being out on the water.

All I ever did was fish or hang around while the adults drank and cooked. Lots of great memories. Me and my pops fished many tournaments together on TB back in the 90s. I've spent more time on that lake than I can remember. Used to tear up some bass and stripers. Decent duck hunting during the winter too. Need to get back up soon.
