Anyone else on here not that excited about Mother's Day? I turned out OK despite my parents, not because of them.

I am not a mom so I don't get excited.

Loved seeing all the offspring of wonderful mothers scrambling to find some cheap trinket at the last minute while out at the stores today.

If you're going to give that little thought, then why even bother?

Regardless of how you "turned out", there is likely no one in the world that did more for you than your mother....

Yes I was clothed and fed. But having parents with personality disorders growing up sure wasn't very fun.
I wish I had less of the craziness, neglect etc.

You're mother probably shite herself giving birth to you. A card isn't out of the question.

Your mom isn't going to be around forever. I hope you make the most of the time you have left.

Prayers Sent, brother.

A baseball coach once told my son "No one will ever love you like your Mother".

My mom raised 5 kids, one with a disability (who she's still raising) all while working a full time job

I manage to find time to get her a card and a gift for Mother's Day

I'm not a fan of obligatory social holidays as a whole. But, being a parent is a tough job. It's nice to appreciate them once in a while for all they have done. Sorry your parents sucked. I'm sure they did the best they could.

I'm sorry you feel that way.

For you or anyone like that, I hope you can develop a good relationship with your mother.

Heck, you could even start today.

My mother drives me to drink when I am with her but I love her dearly and realize I would be quite upset if she wasn't in my life anymore.

I took her shopping and out for lunch Friday and bought her gift then and gave her flowers and a card today.

Well I do have a cordial relationship with both my parents. I did give her a present and card and wished her well. As an adult I've grown to pity her more for her mental issues than be mad or angry anymore. I'm sure others who have grown up with less than ideal bat shite crazy parents feel the same. The commercials about how great 'mom' is just seem weird compared to what Joan Crawford's twin is on a regular basis.

Is there someone else who was more of a mother figure in your life? Might want to do something for her or give her a call.

It will probably lift your own spirits a bit as well.
