Extreme opinions on parenting -- do you have any?

The vaccination thread got me thinking about how "extreme" people can be on the internet about parenting choices -- whether it's about breast vs. bottle or general nutrition, sleep schedules, education, stay-at-home vs. daycare, vaccines, circumcision, or even how mothers actually give birth to the child. Then there are celebrities trying to popularize their own practices, like placenta-eating and pre-masticating food for their babies...

Wasn't until our first child was born in 2011, when I started reading articles and forums about general baby care/habits/issues, that I discovered the "online mommy" community to be one of the most extreme, divided, and borderline toxic groups. Many of them immediately go beyond merely asserting their opinions and make a point to shite on others who follow any other methods.

That being said, the threads here about vaccination, corporal punishment, kissing your kids on the lips, etc. have shown there are folks with pretty strong opinions.

How about the other stuff? Do you think choosing to feed with formula over breast milk is child abuse? Is working full-time and sending your baby to daycare lazy parenting? Are stay-at-home moms the lazy ones? Is circumcision needless, brutal mutilation, or are the cited health benefits worth it? Is there any strong enough reason for a natural birth vs. epidural? Are the placenta-eating premasticaters making a difference in their own health and their kids' lives, or are they batshit crazy moms who want outside attention?

I'm a formula fed, circumcised, daycared, public school educated red blooded Merican. I've only been arrested twice and treated for substance abuse 3 times. I turned out OK.

I firmly believe in the deterrent power of tearing their asses up.

Spank the frick out of them when they misbehave. Make sure they say "ma'am" and "sir". School is a responsibility and part-time work when they're a senior in high school is not an option.

Do this and you're golden. Anything less and it's going to be a long road ahead.

I have opinions but don't really care what other people do, I just judge from afar.

No

Is working full-time and sending your baby to daycare lazy parenting?

It's not ideal but cannot be helped by most.

Are stay-at-home moms the lazy ones?

Only idiots think this

worth it

Since she's doing the birthing and not me, that's her call.

ok frick it, i'll do it...

children should never be spanked. you're only teaching them violent behavior. there are a multitude of other ways to get children to listen to you, like timeout or positive reinforcement. if you resort to spanking a child, you're an unimaginative backward mouthbreathing redneck who should have been a cop. and if you're a cop, first of all, frick you, and second, frick you again. and no, i don't have kids, but if i did, i know i'd be a great dad.

This really would solve MANY of the world's problems if every white, black, yellow, and brown child on Earth was raised in this manner.

It's so simple, it's stupid.

My two kids are between 6 and 8 and will not have a television in their bedrooms until they are paying their own bills.

If they want to watch TV, they can watch one of the other 3 TVs in the common areas of the house.

Google it, but only after your lunch has settled.

It's commonly put into pill form, but others throw that shite on the grill.

i know i'd be a great dad of a loser high school drop-out pothead who owns three pitbulls and has spinners on his '78 Monte Carlo that he drives to and from his girlfriend's grandma's house (because that's where she lives due to her parents being in jail) to give her stolen gifts from three subdivisions down the street.
