I live on 4 acres and my lab, who weighs bout 110# is outside most of the day. Ill either be cutting my grass or riding my 4mth old on the 4wheeler just putting around and my lab follows me. He knows the yards boundries and NEVER goes outside of them. Hes very mild mannered and not aggressive. Well the neighbors dogs are like a pack of fricking wolves... While im on the mower or 4wheeler, they will bum rush my dog and the bigger one thats about 80-90# will attack my dog. it happened about 3x last week, the guy even seen me with my kid on the 4wheeler when they attacked my dog... i mean im in the center of my property and they just beat the shite out of him... yesterday he bit a quarter size chunk out of his neck. wont be the first time I've shot someones dog, but what would you guys do... confront him and tell him or just fkn shoot his dog... only reason i havent yet is bc hes my neighbor, which hes also a dick.... but trying to be as civil as possible. TIA

Tell him next time his dogs attack while on your property you will shoot them. Pretty cut and dry if they're that far on your property causing trouble.

Seems pretty cut and dry. Aggressive dogs attacking your dog on your property = bullet in the aggressive dogs.

Point blank he needs to keep his dogs on his property, that is bullshite.

Ive never shot a dog and probably couldnt, but I would damn sure use that threat towards him.

It doesnt get any more straight forward than "next time they come over here and attack my dogs, especially near my child, they are taking a fricking dirt nap."

Yeah, I'd be worried about that too. Call Animal Control.

Louisiana Dog Law
Summary: These Louisiana statutory sections provide the state's animal control and dangerous dog laws. A dog becomes dangerous when (1) unprovoked, on two separate occasions within the prior thirty-six-month period, engages in any behavior that requires a defensive action by any person to prevent bodily injury when the person and the dog are off the property of the owner of the dog; (2) any dog which, when unprovoked, bites a person causing an injury; or (3) any dog which, when unprovoked, on two separate occasions within the prior thirty-six-month period, has killed, seriously bitten, inflicted injury, or otherwise caused injury to a domestic animal off the property of the owner of the dog. It is unlawful for any person to own a dangerous dog without properly restraining or confining the dog. Any citizen or officer may kill any dangerous or vicious dog, and no citizen or officer shall be liable for damages or to prosecution by reason of killing any dangerous or vicious dog. The section also provides laws on licensing, vaccination, and prohibitions on dogs running at large.

Had a problem similar to this in a neighborhood.

The victims kept making the owners of the pit bull pay for the vet bills.

The pit bull owner got rid of his own dog.

I called Animal Control yesterday on one of my neighbors who lets their dog roam the hood. It's killed two of my chickens in the past year. So I guess legally, I can shoot it but I won't. If rather pepper the neighbors with bird shot for being crappy dog owners.

Don't say a single word to the neighbor about the dogs. They will just have "run off" one day , never to return or be found.

If he ever asks you about them just say , "damn that sucks man, maybe they ran off since you didn't keep them contained, but I'll be on the look out for them"

Thinkin bout waiting til they go out of town and take care of it myself....

ETA: thats why i was asking you guys... if i say something and he doesnt do anything about it and I kill it, its a good reason for revenge... If I just take care of it when they are gone.... then nobody knows and problems solved

and that is the rub, say something to the guy and he doesn't do anything and then you have to call animal control or shot the dog and he hates you when it was really his fault. Tough call...

Do you know your neighbor or have any sort of relationship with him? It's easy to kill the dog, but consider that you have to live next to this guy indefinitely. Does he even know about what his dog does?

Ask your neighbor to cover the vet bill. If he balks or tells you to frick off, or doesn't pay in a day or two, give him a copy of that law about killing the aggressive dog. Then follow through the next time it happens. But make sure you are well within your property line.

I don't understand jack asses like this guy. If my dog attacked other dogs on their property, I'd go Coot all over my own dog.

Is there a leash law in effect in your area?
If so, call pet control. If not, shoot the SOB and if neighbor gets loud shoot him too.

You have to call the parish animal control and file a complaint.

They will come out and talk to him.

After that you can legally kill his dog if you feel threatened or any member of your family and you will not get arrested or charged.

I've had to do this before trust me do it like I outlined above.
