Nothing tastes better than $6 coffee. Can't replicate that at home.

Yeah, didn't think a how to was needed. Seems a bit self explanatory.

Get a cold brew coffee maker and follow the directions. Pour enough of extract to pour into a glass and dilute with cold water, then chill with ice and cream.

I don't like the taste of hot brewed coffee cold.

NO! Not good.

Buy a Toddy cold drip system. Not that expensive. It brews overnight (about 12 hours, really) and produces a pitcher of fairly concentrated coffee that you keep in the refrigerator. Most of the acidity is removed and that's key for iced coffee. You add a little water, ice and milk to each glass and it's great.

ETA: The iced coffee craze in N.O. began with P. J's under its original owner and this is what they use. As does a few others, and it's legit.

Make a simple syrup, 1 part water to 1 part sugar: Heat on the stove to dissolve every bit of the sugar. Cool and keep this on hand for sweetening you iced coffee or iced tea.

Brew your coffee double strength so that when you sweeten with the syrup, you won't wind up with diluted coffee. This also compensates for any melting ice and added milk. (Of course, let the coffee cool before mixing.)

There's my tip for the day.

ETA: After researching cold brew coffee, that seems like the way to go. It comes out as a concentrate, presumably perfect for adding ice, milk and syrup.

I pour hot coffee over ice every day.

If I go to a coffee shop I get a double shot of espresso poured over ice. I fricking love America. Drinking room temperature or hot things is for savages.

A cold brew system should definitely cost less than $30 and last for life. The filters are the only thing that needs to be replaced every couple of years. The coffee is far less acidic than any other method, and is good for cold or hot usage. Freeze the filter between uses in a plastic bag and thaw.

See my earlier comments on the subject. A one time expense is all that is needed for life, easy as hell to do it.

Just cold brew. That will cut the bitterness.
