Going to a show tonight, show is not until 10pm. Just looking to have some drinks and reasonable dinner around the area and walk/cab to show after.
Type of food doesn't really matter. Just haven't been to or had a night out in New Orleans in long while, forgot what is in the area.
TIA.

Bar Tonique on Rampart st for drinks is right on the other side of Armstrong Park...should be wble to walk that, but just be aware of your surroundings

I haven't been, but Marti's is a new take on an old place on Rampart that looks really interesting.

Right on. I'm pretty excited for Tom Haverford tonight. Haha.

Lots of cabs that area, it's probably easier just to pay the $6 or so, come to think of it

I was at his last show in NOLA and it was great. Tonight will definitely be a good time (though I have tickets to the early show). I'll check back on recommendations for late night though.

There is always Ole Faithful, Port of Call, right there on Esplanade. Get a burger and a monsoon before the show, but definitely cab.

Honestly, that section of N Rampart (across from Armstrong/Mahalia) might be one of the safest in the city right now. As other have suggested, Bar Tonique is great for cocktails, and Marti's is brand new and very nice. They are within 2 blocks of the theatre.

I used to love Bar Tonique, but my last couple of experiences there made me swear to never return. Horribly slow or non-existent service when they weren't that busy. Stuck up and rude bartenders that had zero regard for being friendly, and couldn't care less about people needing to pay their tabs to get to the show.
