I have been informed (actually, reminded, since I had blocked it from my mind) that I'm going to a wedding in B.R. this Saturday. The reception is on one of the Bocage Courts/Streets off of Jeff Hwy. If we can escape the reception early enough, we may be able to eat a real dinner by, say, 8:30 or 9:00.

I haven't really dined in B.R. in years. What are some suggestions? No reservations at the moment, obviously. Gino's is a "fall back" option, I guess (if I call ahead). What are some other possibilities?

This

Quite possibly my favorite BR restaurant. You get great food, and you don't have to spend $130 for 2 unlike Ruffino's, Le Creole, Little Village, Mansur's, Galatoire's, etc...

Obvious answer is obvious.

Has anyone said Beausoleil? Because that's where you want to eat.

Beausoleil

Everyone likes this place. My brother enjoys it, and I would like to give it a try.

The best you can do in BR is to curb your enthusiasm.

I'd put IPO in the mix of what I would consider above the average of what you would come to expect for dinner service here as well, but they're not going to be anywhere near there.

If you need to go to dinner after a wedding reception, then that's gotta be one crappy reception. I always leave receptions stuffed.

What kind of cheap-arse wedding doesn't serve dinner?

what does it matter that he wants to grab a meal somewhere in BR while he is here after a reception?

I've got no qualms about hitting a wedding's open bar hard. I just don't like gorging myself to the point that I feel like I've eaten a full meal in a reception/non-sit-down dinner type setting. I'll often want to go out to dinner after such functions.

Catered chaffing dish Food =/= Beausoleil or dinner service

Unless those getting married are going full all out bank and getting super serious hand passed aps, which is so highly doubtful, it's not worth considering, it's not the same thing at all.

I'll give you a list of the likely suspects

- jambalaya
- shrimp/crawfish fettuccini in cream sauce
- meatballs
- gumbo
- roast beef or pulled pork
- fried catfish and/or chicken
- finger sandwiches
- rolls
- bread pudding

VOR can come back on here and tell me if I'm not right, wrong, or at least fairly close.
