With both Los Angeles and New York City bidding to play host to Stephen Colbert’s “The Late Show,” New Orleans Mayor Mitch Landrieu has reached out to CBS to pitch New Orleans as the new show’s home once Colbert takes over for David Letterman.

“Though it may seem like an unlikely fit, New Orleans and The Late Show or its successor would be a great fit,” says the letter, dated April 14 and addressed to Leslie Moonves, chairman and CEO of CBS. “New Orleans is a brand unto itself and it is particularly attractive for the key demographic you are trying to reach. We offer you not only our unique culture and rich history, but attractive business incentives for film production. “

Probably won't happen, but I love the tenacity. You can't get a yes if you don't ask. Plus it re rives free publicity for the city...maybe another show picks here bc of this.

Don't see why it couldn't or wouldn't work.

Louisiana has a booming TV and Film industry right now. All of the resources are there. New Orleans is a unique place and it would be great for a this. New Orleans likely won't get the show, but it has plenty to offer in regards to this.

I think it would be great for the city and CBS to do it, but I don't see big stars coming to NOLA to appear on one show, even if it is the Late Show.

Yeah it's easier to promote in NY or LA where you can do 10 different shows in a few blocks than to fly to Nola. Would be cool, will not happen.

New Orleans isn't high enough on the promotional tour. You need RDJ in your guest chair the week that Avengers 2 premieres (preferably the night before it premieres). RDJ will be in NY and LA that week, not in NO.

A lot are already here at a given period of time.

Recently LA had Twilight, 21 jump street, pitch perfect, true detective, Django Unchained, 12 years a slave, Dallas Buyers Club, Grudge Match, Enders game,

About to have 22 jump street, another will ferrell movie, the next Jurrasic Park, Pitch Perfect 2, a Will Smith movie, etc

That's a pretty impressive resume' right there. Some of the biggest names in show business were in those and won some big awards.

Not going to be as easy as NY or LA, but the big stars are already here. Not realistic to happen though

I would go all the time if it happened. I love Colbert. Almost definitely won't though.

That's why the show wouldn't leave NY or LA but don't think it would destroy their bookings if it did.

Actors only go to NOLA to party and act. They typically don't stay there long. NYC is always essential in a promotional tour, and most live in LA. No way it won't be in either of those cities.

the next Jurrasic Park,

Yep and also T5, the next Terminator film. I do business with the set design and construction departments of every big production in NOLA or BR.

It would be a bad move for CBS to air that show out of N.O.
