So, my company's branch in Geismar was slated to open in December of this year; frequency & volume of clients has pushed it up to May. As a result, I'll need to relocate in order to have a manageable commute. The location of the office is only a couple of miles south of I-10, so it seems like there's a pretty decent amount of options to keep the commute to somewhere in the ~45 minute range. I've really not given it a terrible ton of thought since I was under the impression that I wouldn't have to start thinking about it until the end of the year.

What say the OT denizens? Where would you set up shop & call home?

Depending what time of day you plan on driving, you may have to live closer than you think. Traffic can be a real bitch on 73

Even that close to I-10 or is it a combination of getting up 73 then onto I-10?

Gonzales or Prairieville. Would not stay south if 10 personally. But I also moved away from Louisiana in 2006. So it may havr changed some. Used to be nice houses in Pellican Point. Not sure if Doug has sold it or not though. Like I said, it has been a while.

Between 645 and about 8 the whole place is a disaster.

Those two seemed like the most logical choices, but I've been through Prairieville in the morning and I've seen the traffic get pretty brutal. But, I don't think traffic would be the sole deterrent to choosing where to live.

Even Old Jefferson once you get north of I-10? What about Bluff Road?

Is pelican point not south of I 10?

Do you have kids, are schools important to you

What price range are you looking into

Plenty of options in dutchtown, Prairieville, geismer, Gonzales,

I would stay out of EBR

I'll have to take a gander @ Dutchtown; been through there quite a few times, but never really paid attention.

Pelican Point was the only bright spot I could think of south of I-10.

I don't have custody, so the kids will still be attending Central. I'm looking for something between, say, $180k-$220k...I kinda' plan on being single for a long time if I can help it.

Are there any decent neighborhoods/areas along 75?

I'll have to spend a few days sight-seeing and checking those areas out.
