I'm such a babe in the woods; how could I forget that the OT might steer me wrong for kicks!

Don't ride through those last 3 if you're not very urbanly cultured.

I don't have custody, so the kids will still be attending Central. I'm looking for something between, say, $180k-$220k...I kinda' plan on being single for a long time if I can help it.

Lots of housing options in that range. Honestly, if you plan on staying single, and aren't worried about school, look in South BR (City of St George). Not that anything is wrong with Pville, but you don't have to pay higher taxes and might be closer to things you will want to do.

Would Kennelworth(sp?) be part of that area? It's another location I've driven thru/past a billion times, but never really paid attention to. Recently, I visited an old college roommate & his wife; they have a house there. Seemed like a decent neighborhood and it seemed like a decent location given the quick access to Highland as well as I-10 via Bluebonnet.

Kind of far, and traffic would be a pain in the anus

That's the negative part I was considering; I mean, if you're able to get ahead of traffic coming/going then the commute wouldn't be terrible. But boy howdy I have seen Bluebonnet backed up a million miles sometimes, especially in the evenings. I don't guess I'd fare any better even if Highland/Perkins seemed clear at I-10.

Depends on his work day. Would assume he will take Bluebonnet extension to 30 and into Geismar. 30 minute commute I would imagine.

I would also look into Buzzard's Roost

Dat Root

Dutchtown has a lot of nice neighborhoods. Bluff to 74, up to 73. You'll probably be more on the top end of your price range.

Highway 30 in Saint Gabriel has a couple neighborhoods in that price range. New neighborhoods look pretty nice.

Yeah, that would actually be a way to avoid some of the I-10 congestion.

My wife works in Geismer, we are on the Diversion. Might be a good choice if you life the river life. Drive is ~30 minutes without traffic. She says leaving 5 minutes late can add a lot of time to the drive, all of it is around the plants...

Is St. Gabriel east or west of 74?

Everyone I worked with in that direction usually elected to take 30. School traffic down 73 can get bad.

Always have the option of going to hwy 30, which a lot of people do.

Y'all are off of 75? Where's the Diversion? (I'm assuming this is a waterway?)

74 basically ends in st Gabriel where it hits hwy 30.

Personally I think you have a lot better options than St Gabriel.

I'm actually in Convent right now doing a job for a client for a couple of months probably; I've got a lot of area to cover to make my decision.

Just sold my house in Spanish Lakes. They are in your price range and you wouldn't have to deal with traffic.

AND once you have a St. Gabriel address on your drivers license the cops leave you alone on 30
