I thought the burger was very good. Best burger I had in a long time. But my wife's French Fries were way too salty, and she had a bathroom emergency about an hour later.

I had the same burger as her but had no problem. I think this place wants you to go through the drive through, and that's the way I'll do it from now on.

I have eaten at the one on Vets, and definitely won't be going out of my way for the burger. The chocolate shakes, on the other hand, are fan-fricking-tastic

Eta: There was also a homeless guy right outside the door playing air guitar, which was a nice touch

What makes you say this?

I have been twice and really wasn't impressed with the burgers or fries. The burger almost has a burnt taste. The milkshakes are good though.

I guess because the inside is cold and uninteresting. Crappy dollar store chairs, cramped parking lot.

Shakes may be good, but they're 4 and a half f'ing dollars! Nitrogen? Please.

On the other hand, I liked the burger, pickle, tasty bun, quality lettuce. About the pickle - it was somewhere between a dill pickle slice and a plain cucumber slice. More to the cucumber end, very crispy.

I ate there recently and was pretty unimpressed with the burger. Way too salty, crumbled apart, and the bun couldn't hold up. I did however love the milkshake that we had there. Like another poster said I would go back for the milkshake, but Nola has much better burger joints to choose from.

I’ve been enjoying this board for years. Whenever I can squeeze out a few precious moments of free time, TD is my go to.

Full disclosure: I am co-owner of Atomic Burger, so I am not sure how kosher it is for me to post on this topic, but I know how popular, or should I say frequent, burger threads are on here and I feel like I am in a unique position to contribute.

Whenever I read a thread with differing opinions of the same restaurant, I always wonder if the opiners have different standards/expectations or if the restaurant simply has issues with consistency.

In this case, I can say that we have certainly had issues with consistency. We had some problems with our initial processes, and I think much, if not all, of the criticism we have received has been warranted.

We've recently changed the way we cook our burgers, and we've made some tweaks to our fry recipe/process that I think have made a substantial difference in quality and consistency. I've not heard over-salting complaints recently, but coaching proper seasoning is a constant priority for restaurant operators, so I will look into that immediately.

Many thanks to all of our TD customers, and sincere apologies to those we've let down. My brother and I are very passionate about our young company and we're working hard to get better.

Cheers to you guys for holding us to a high standard!

I will be more than happy to try the burger again! In full disclosure my husband wanted to mention something the day we went because he did think it was something that could be rectified. Again, milkshakes were phenomenal!

Your post makes me actually want to try the place. I'd have to go to Metry, though

Maybe one day when I'm out that way I'll swing by

Honestly that was one of the best posts by an owner/employee of a place that has been criticized. I'll for sure give it a try. Possibly this weekend.

Normally this doesn't end well, but I think you did it right. I don't think it's fair to compare y'all's burger to the non drive thru places. The one time I went the burger reminded me of a Wendy's pattie, cooked on BK flame broiler, topped with sonics bread and condiments. Wasn't bad but it wasn't some once in a life time burger experience that is needed for some posters here to say something positive. You guys should do well.

You may. Won't be the first or last time.

There are a few posting in this thread that would concur.

Your response to criticism was straight to the point and the best I have seen on this board by an owner/operator. Best of luck.

When I was in there I noticed a Cuisinart Griddler on a top shelf (not being used). What do you use that for? Seems like it wouldn't be needed in a commercial kitchen.

Thanks, guys. Hope to see some of you soon! Sammich, I’m especially grateful for the offer of a second chance.

Tigerwise, thanks for the insight. That cross-section is certainly not our aim. I want to be careful not to use this site as a pulpit to push AB, but I would like to say that we’ve stopped using the high temp broiler to cook our burgers, which has righted some of the wrongs to which you alluded.

Our hot dog bun is similar to what would typically be used for a lobster roll - buttered and toasted on both sides. We use the Cuisinart press to toast the bread.
