And so far my rankings would be:

1. Wolf of Wall Street
2. American Hustle
3. 12 Years a Slave
4. Captain Phillips
5. Gravity

I guess I understand why 12 Years won, but in my opinion AH and especially WOWS were superior.

I haven't seen 12 Years a Slave yet but I agree with the rest of your list. I think Gravity would be higher if I saw it in IMAX like I wanted to. Captain Phillips was just OK to me. Actually I would put Gravity just above it.

So you turned it off before the actual story started.

I don't mind the hate for American Hustle, but it was definitely not boring.

American Hustle was a little too long and slow at times but the performances were all great. Plus Amy Adams' wardrobe was nice.

I went into American Hustle wanting it to be awesome and really liked it.

Then it came out on redbox and I re watched it and it was kind of boring in the beginning.

Still like the movie, but I understand why it didn't win.

Wolf of Wall Street was BaD arse though

Wolf of Wall Street was my favorite. Seriously, how the hell have they not given Leo an Oscar yet. Every movie he's in is at least good and this was one of his better performances imo

I really didn't think his performance was oscar worthy. But maybe I'm biased because I didn't like the movie.

My rankings:

1.Nebraska
2.The Wolf Of Wall Street
3.12 Years A Slave
4.Dallas Buyers Club
5.Captain Phillips

#s 2, 3 and 4 could be in any order, but, Nebraska was my favorite. I didn't really like Captain Phllips that much. I thought it was just average. I'm looking forward to seeing the others. Especially Philomena.
