wont happen anytime soon IMO, been in the satellite industry for over 10 years, DIRECTV is a much larger company but Charlie Ergen the CEO of DISH is getting older and wants to merge.

I have a lot of DISH stock and said on here two years ago it was a value stock and its at $62 a share- all time high today

Kind of like the Sears/KMart merger. A merger of two bad companies.

I can't comment on the financials of either company but I have nothing bad to say about Directv. They have much better customer service than any other TV provider I have dealt with.

I think you're wrong. The TWC - Comcast deal opened the road for this deal. These companies were denied a merger in the late 90's but the regulation concerns have been answered by increased competition. There is a reason both DTV and DISH saw huge stock increases...the threat is real.

Sirius/XM merged. I don't see why Direct/Dish can't do the same.

Didnt they merge because both could show that the market just wasnt large enough for two companies?

The Dish/DirectTV merger has been on the table for years. The TWC/Comcast deal, coupled with the satellite merger regaining steam, is in response to VOD and streaming services like Netflix, Hulu, Amazon, HBOgo, etc. The industry is changing to the point where cable and satellite consolidation will happen in the future, but I don't see it happening in the next couple of years.

I think you should send the memo to Warren Buffet, as Direct TV is one of his top 5 holdings.
